Amazing piece of equipment. Very expedition worthy in my mind.

Products like this are so incredible to see, brought to market by a passionate entrepreneur (owner of Oakley). Seeing this product is quite inspirational to me, and proof that exceptional ideas and exceptional quality can manifest itself in today's marketplace of "disposable appliances".

Thanks Pasquale, for letting me know about this product.

I just bought an HV20 to add to the Overland Video stable. Maybe I should have waited for Scarlet

Can someone break this down? What the heck is it? Please dumb it down for a 2-channel tube amp listening, silver-halide film using, no TV watching, stick shift driving curmudgeon. Seems like it's some sort of camera or is it a personal watercraft or something? Please be gentle, we still haven't embraced air conditioning. We're waiting to see if it catches on or not.

I thought it was cheap. Compare it to say a Panavision and you'll get an idea of what a revolutionary product this is.

It is half what Overland Video already has invested in equipment. Kind of a bargain in the world of professional HDV actually :)

it is inded the way the HD video production world is heading -- I think the Red uses flash drives (as does the new panavision hd cam) and is very flexable, small, light weight etc... Pretty cool, but new stuff -- I'd wait for the next batch!

Yeah, actually two batches away :)

The first two runs of 1000 are pre-sold :D

I am just really enjoying the entire concept. Certainly a brilliant execution, with innovation, exclusivity, design, performance, quality and a near cult community.

The RED ONE is not perfect. The above reasons are just a few of many. RED Digital is not perfect. We are building a camera company from scratch. It is tough as a EDIT. Not what we expected. But we are awake. Alive. And more dedicated than anyone you have ever met to deliver what you want and need. We are a small team trying to slay the giant. You have the right to be nervous. We are. We are so nervous that none of us can sleep. But you will have to kill us to stop us. If you bring up a problem, we will listen and get on it like a cheap suit. We have. We will. We always will.

We are our competitions worst nightmare. We will keep coming. Charlie Manson doesn't know the meaning of obsessed.

Bravo Jim!

I is nothing short of amazing. I've been following the buzz on this development since word came out nearly two years ago. The Red team has brought this camera to market in less than 18 months. The unit is (modular design) totally configurable. Records straight to Hard drives (or CF). This camera will revolutionize how films are made right now. At present, it takes quite a bit of skill and training to develop an on site work flow. The Red Team is on top of revisions and perfecting every part of this unit.

Once you total up all the inventory needed you are well into the 40K mark, then there is the editing suite (another 30-40K.) Considering what it used to involve to make a real (so to speak) "Hollywood" movie this combination is still well under budget.

Apple's Final Cut Studio is ready to work Red One.

I needed some I.t. Help with my computer, so I called...the tech I spoke with had me go to the red website while we were working on the problem.

That was awhile ago and this thing is nothing short of amazing...
