Reg. Cab Pic post

So for my first post I have a small request.

For my first 4x4 i am pretty set on getting a regular cab Taco 4cyl round 96 if I can find one in nice shape. I noticed most everyone on here is running Access or double. Lets get a nice pic thread going of Regular cab set ups if they exist. Sorry I don't have one to post right now but would love some inspiration!

BTW: I tried search and really didn't come up with much.

if you are a single guy who is a minimalist get the reg cab, other wise get the xtra cab, and if you are over 6' tall to. I am saying this cause i had one and got a 4runner, if i had the money it would have been a double cab.:sombrero:

If you're looking for a 96, try to find one with a 3.4L V6. Iirc, they had it as an option in the first few years. MPG is about the same and in a small reg cab, that would be awesome. There is a nice single cab thread over at ttora.

That said, for expedition travels, I'd at least get an access cab. So nice to have that extra bit of room for gear and being able to recline.

u will not get the same mpg with a 3.4 as a 2.7 theres about a 3mpg gap between the two. that said i love my 95.5 tacoma and it has a 2.7. Gear em for the tires and your just fine power wise. hell theres full size trucks with v6's that dont have the horsepower the 2.7's produce. heres my truck

Kick *** Tacoma! Thats exactly what I am looking for with the topper and all that jazz. Where did you get that spare tire carrier off the tailgate?

I second the 2.7L over the 3.4 the 2.7 is plenty of power for a reg cab. I had one in my 06 reg cab and never had a complaint about power all while getting 24-29 mpg. Have one in my 07 access cab and am still super happy with it. Sure I can't fly up mountains at 75 mph but im never in a rush and the extra mpgs are worth it to me. I would recomend sticking with a 5-spd manual though, seems like you can squeeze a little more out of it that way.

Yeah it will be a 4cyl and def a 5 speed. It will get a VW TDI swap soon after the first year of driving as well. I got a 1.9L TDI in waiting.

Here is mine

This is my reg cab build, This pics was taken summer of 07. The truck is very different now, but you get the idea.
RTT
Dual batteris
Dual Spares
Sway-a-way front coil overs
OME rear springs
Lowrance
yada yada

I have a ARE shell now and custom storage in the bed.
I put a ARB on the front this past fall, ditched my KENMTN bumper.
Its been here and there.
managed to convert the T-case to full manual, and put the front diff on just one switch.
The First gen tacoma has an advntage as to having a manual t-case.

Another pic, Different view and all.

Its a great truck, gotta love the reg cab.

As for the specifics I could go on for days. ive been a member here a while but havent posted up a ton or a "build thread" Since there is second gen. build threads all over this site. But its been modified very heavy for "expedition travel" and that is its intended use.

One day i will get an oppertunity for that trip of a life time and the reason for all the chaos of building this truck.
