Renegade concept at Detroit Auto Show

I was talking with a Fiat rep at our state fair this year and he informed me that the Renegade is essentially the Fiat 500XL with 4x4.

Yep, the 500X. The Renegade is even mentioned a couple of times on the 500X page.

Yeah, aftermarket support will be make or break for me. This would have to be lifted at least 2" in my opinion to be somewhat viable for what I would want to do in it.

I'd be pretty disappointed if it didn't get at least as much support as the Patriot/Compass did. It would be great to see some tuner and aftermarket FI support, along with the usual lift kits, CAI, etc.

Not my cup of tea at all. I think it would break. Just because they put some tough looking parts on it and gave it 4WD doesn't make it an off-road vehicle. I would prefer a vehicle that was engineered from the ground up to be an off-road rig. Not some cute Fiat they slapped a few truck bits on.

...easier than flipping back and forth from the link. Neat idea and neat looking for the intended inner city market. I could see it crawling a curb to get that sweet parking spot in front of a Starbucks, or maybe full of 20 something's headed to the ski lodge for fun filled weekend...
Oh i just noticed the sweet red tow hooks!

I don't think its that bad. But without knowing anything about the quality or capabilities, it's hard to say much about it. As for looks, I'd take this over a new Cherokee any day.

I would say that one big thing I dislike about Jeep right now is that they obviously have someone in their design group who thinks that everything is better with stickers. You'd think that person would have been canned after that whole dragon thing, but it looks like they're doubling down instead.

I also don't understand the single painted spoke gimmick, which has been making the rounds a lot lately, usually accompanied by a single painted grill slot.

Stickers are a big thing now. Remember the Raptor? We have a ton around me and nearly every single one has that mud decal. I am not a fan but they seem popular.
But then again between me and my in laws I know four people with delirians and they are only 3 blocks away. Lol. Who would have thought?!

Try and get past the lame graphics. I think it has a lot of potential similar to a Subaru Crosstrek.

If this is like a more off road capable Honda Element I think it should do well. I love the interior usability of those. Combine that with the aftermarket Jeep love and I think you'd have a winner.

I'd look into buying one for my daughter, but I'll stick with my JKU. This one will probably be a hit with the outdoorsy college kids and REI crowd aka former Element owners and Subaru types.

Especially if Jeep went with the easy clean interior and versatile seating the Element had.

Think you hit the nail on the head. I think their intent is to steal the Subie customer.

FWIW, my wife LOVES it and is trying to convince me it would be a great weekend camper car (I think it's likely a little small for our family). She has used the word "cute" several times.
