Repairing ARB Awning

Hello everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster :)

Unthinkable happened - heavy garage door closed upon my new ARB awning...

Result: rough cut in the awning cover, lateral, about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Awning itself seems to have survived OK.

Can anyone share thoughts or experience on the good material to use to patch it? Duct tape is not an option, I'm thinking along the line a rubber patch, like the one you use to fix a bike tubes. Any ideas are very welcome!!!

Many thanks in advance,
Aleks

What material is the cover made from.

Can you post pictures of the cover and damage?

I should have said welcome to the Portal in my first post, welcome to the Portal.

You wouldn't be able to do a heat sealed patch, but the second best thing would be to use some PVC/nylon material and glue it in place using HH-66 vinyl contact cement. West Marine sells PVC inflatable boat material in various colors.

Take off the awning and have a patch sewn at a commercial sewing outfit?

I had to have one of the retaining clips repaired on my ARB awning, we were able to maneuver it around enough for her to sew, sewing the cover might in fact be easier even. I could send you a 12"x12" piece of that material from a RTT cover, sew on the patch and tape the seams with an appropriate tape and you'll be good to go.
