Hey Addison, don't know if you've noticed any noise off your Prinsu or not, word on the forums is the lowest holes for the deflector are the quietest setting..

One day I'll get to drive this thing on the road.... but that time has not yet come! Still on jack stands. Removed the facotry cam tab gussets last night and having the new ones (Total Chaos) welded in this week. Then it starts to go back together. Truck basically has no front or rear suspension at the moment! Sound advice though and I'll see what happens.

All in good time right?
I run mine at the bottom- without the edging. It's no louder than the Yakima setup on the Subaru.

1) those SCS Ray10's are SAWEEEEEET with the beadlock conversion 2) I'm loving the attention to detail and overall build quality of your rig, keep up the great work!

Thank you. I do apologize for the lack of updates though. I like recording all the details and I feel like I could be documenting it even more!

Lol thanks you! Still love your Tacoma as well.

Progress has been slow again. Life keeps getting in the way and we have too many projects ongoing with Tamarack (a good thing) that take priority. Still though, I plan on wrenching hard after I get home from the Dominican mid-April. I want this thing buttoned up before the May long weekend!

UPDATE

Almost ready for re-assembly. My good buddy Nick coming in clutch for me as usual. Total Chaos spindle gussets and cam tab gussets are now in. Some weld porn for you all.

Additional Notes:

- spindles were preheated before welding on the gussets
- Cam tabs only welded on two sides on purpose; factory metal is quite thin and too much heat can actually be detrimental. Total Chaos recommends only welding two sides.

Nice getting caught up here again... been a minute. I posted my new2me 06 Tundra last summer. Postponed buying parts, got it paid off in 6 months instead. Whoopy😐

The lady is due for a new vehicle, wants a runner. Any reason u went 05 instead of 06-08? 15/16's are an option but I'm pressing for the V8.

Nice work so far.. your styling ques are on point man!

Interesting! I've got a heck of a time keeping my rig aligned so I may look in to these!

Yah, here's to hoping they help keep the alignment in check.

Hey, vehicle payments suck. I haven't had a car payment since I was 19 and can appreciate your decision to pay it off before you start buying parts!

V8 is awesome. I was strictly searching for 05+ V8 4Runners and GX470s. I wanted the newer features and VVTI. Other than that I just wanted a clean one. My 05' checked all the boxes and had just over 40,000kms when I bought it last year... I knew I would never find one like it again so I jumped on it.

Thanks for the kind words, trying to keep it clean.

UPDATE

Been a busy weekend. I must have clocked 24 hours in the garage in the last 3 days. My wife and I decided to downsize our fleet of cars to just 2 after we just picked up a clean 99' 4Runner for her. I listed the 2 cars we wanted to sell, expecting they would take a few weeks. Low and behold I sold both cars 2 days after listing them. This is me scrambling to have a vehicle for Monday morning...

I am still un-successful though with a lot to wrap up. Need to get the MT rear coils in, torque up the rear links, and adjust these rear sway bar discos. Throw the factory wheels on it and get it sent off for an alignment. Gunna get the truck rolling on the factory wheels before I undertake all the trimming required to fit the Coopers/Beadlocks. Luckily I helped my good buddy buy a 08' GX470 this weekend and he offered me the use of his old car until I get mine back on the ground. Stay tuned for a new blog post with all the details in the next week or so.

Looks great, Addison. I am not complaining, but you probably could have wrapped up your install without all those pretty pictures =p

Should be lifting the GX soon. Got my e-mail from ARB the other day! Decided on the Camburg UCAs, but still undecided on rear springs... Don't want a ton of lift, or a rough ride. However, I do have the roof top tent, awning, dogs, and camping/recovery equipment to tote around.

Yeah that's your problem, Addison. If you don't have **** scattered all over the floor how do you know where anything is?

Looking good! Ready to land on its wheels :)

that garage sure is tidy

The thing with photos is that it doesn't take one particular dimension into consideration.... time. HA you should have seen the garage an hour before I took these photos! lol a bomb of bolts, boxes, parts scattered everywhere.

Truck is back on the ground and driving. Factory wheels for now until I can do the required trimming this weekend. Went for an alignment yesterday and was having trouble getting maximum caster out of the front. Not sure why, anyone have any ideas? I was at the shop during the alignment (my buddy's shop) and the bolts were maxing out with only 3.5 caster. I would have left it there but then I wasn't getting the camber values I wanted so we pulled the castor back to 3 degree to get my camber even on both sides. Would definitely like to get it up to 4-4.5 degrees to help fit the big tires though. Not sure what the problem is there.

Initial impressions on the Icon stuff vs. Fox is good. Just around town driving: noticeably stiffer (which was expected) but not in the way I was fearing. I was worried it would be like OME "heavy" stiff but it's nowhere near that. Need more seat time though to determine my final thoughts on the whole digressive/progressive discussion. Especially slow technical trails and high speed logging roads bombs. Blog post & pics to come.

** I would like to note how awesome my experience has been with Metal Tech...

+1 for Metal Tech being stand up guys. We visited their shop a few years ago to have rear bumper put on my FJ. Since we were there on vacation, Mark gave us the keys to his orange LT FJ to cruise around in while he had mine in the shop. It was unexpected but very much appreciated!

Great to see your rig coming along!

Oh that would have been pretty cool! Love that FJ. Thats the kind of customer service that goes above and beyond. Will be doing business there again.

Been busy working in the garage. Swapped sides for the MT rear coils to get the truck sitting properly left vs. right. Apparently the "D" on one of the coils means it should go on the passenger side?? Me thinks we have a RHD manufacturer of the MT rear coils - probably marked "D" for driver, but not in North America. Oh well, fairly easy to swap them around with a spring compressor and now it's sitting where it should. Logged about 200kms on the new setup so I wanted to crawl under the truck and re-check the torque on all the bolts. Even managed to test fit the tires and do a little trimming on the rear bumper. Just need to spend an afternoon trimming the BMC and the pinch weld and I should be throwing the beadlocks on permanently! Bumper should be back from paint on Thursday/Friday next week too. Coming along nicely now :)

Looking sick dude. I think this is the first time I've had my truck "done" and you're still putting yours together ... hahaha
