I saw a snorkel the other day somewhere that replaced the passenger side cowl panel. While the design I saw wasn't that good looking, the idea is a good one. If you replaced that panel of the body with a short snorkel the location would be about perfect. Personally I don't think that the JK needs a snorkel up the the top of the windshield, but something in the middle, kinda like a short hummer snorkel, might be best.
All i really want is a visual reference for snorkel height, ie not guessing where the water level is in relation to the intake. Getting some nice dense outside air to the snorkel would be nice too.
I want to combine the idea of the J8 factory intake with the AEV hood. Instead of having the boxy J8 intake on the top of the hood, have a section of ducting that would connect the factory airbox to the 'vent' in the side of the AEV hood. How often do you get water above the top of the hood anyways!
Have a drain in the bottom of the connector to deal with static raining water maybe?
