They came in yesterday to my house while I was at work, didn't have time to put them on today.... Hopefully tomorrow and then need to get it aligned before installing the new tires. I can't wait to get this thing done so I can start on the sidekick! :wings:

Looks good! How does it handle on the highways, round the curves? That really gave you GC looks like you can keep the lower trim/air dam and flares.....nice!

Used pro comp 9000 series nitrogen shocks and it rides incredibly well. This is my first Astro and it rode horrible before, but the shocks were wasted, the front torsions were shot and rear springs badly sagged out. Plans are to buy new rear leaf packs from OV this summer and sell the new add a leafs I just installed to get more height, and corners are not bad at all. I really love the overall ride and height. My neighbor has the same color van and will get some side by side pics for comparison. A customer came into work and asked who's mini-van that was in the parking lot today. I told him that it isn't a mini-van anymore with the lift and bigger tires, now it's a MAN-i-van!

OK, now I really like the stance it has....it definitely doesn't say soccer mom/ grocery getter.:victory:
Thanks, I really like it too, and this setup is with the Overland vans torsion keys, new Dorman torsion bars and adjusted all the way down ( can't be set any lower than this up front! )
Looks good!:victory:
Thanks, but isn't it past your bedtime and you're still online? Did you fall asleep at the keyboard again? Say hi to the guys at the shop for me next time you are down there, I miss you all back there and I plan on making next years OE in AZ

Just about - up late getting ready for the SE Overland Rally in Asheville, NC tomorrow. Will do - they must miss you - they haven't changed the answering machine message yet.

17 yr. old young girl: :victory: (That's better) (She wants a Mustang)

Your van along with Herbie's hill climb video and T.Low, along with others have inspired me! I didn't want to hyjack your thread with questions about starting a build from scratch.

I see why you made a switch and understand/agree with your thinking on your van. The way it sits appears to me (as a newbie) to have a good approach and departure angle especially for something that can be a daily driver and not stick out as a military type vehicle would (not a bad thing, just more civil in traffic).

So, will what you have done work with a later model, 96 and up? Torsion bars, springs, shocks, T-case, wheel/tires?

I have looked for the referrences to T.Low's van (not sure if I have seen T.Low's van, searched threads he started but no luck there) but you have a list of mods that seem pretty much what would be needed.

Maybe I missed it, but did you list armor underneath? What do you plan to do on the bottom...anything needed?

Most good auto publications end up calling them mid-size vans. Easy to see why.

Any Astro can be lifted. Only AWD models can have a 2 speed transfer case installed without doing a ton of work.

Armor is strictly custom at this point, but plans for skids and rock rails are available.
