RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

I have a scanguage but lost the cord, gotta order a replacement but then I'll find mine the next day. Got another small mod done tonight after work, got the passenger side door panel swapped out with one that had a perfect armrest. Amazing how much that helps the look of the interior compared to the one that came out with all the cracks. Also did one small other mod up front, see if you can figure out the difference...

Well, tried the front brake upgrade install yesterday and it doesn't work with the caliper numbers I was given. The ones I was told to procure mount on pins, whereas my astro mount from behind with a simple bolt. Oh well. I am also looking into a different rear axle option, so my new stainless steel rear disk brake conversion is up for sale for what I paid for it $400. Not bad for an $800 kit...

Where did you get the caliper numbers?

Once I get Grumpy's lift done I have an all GM disc brake conversion that I'm going to try on Green. Details will follow.

I think it was Loopie, but since I had long torsion bars for the early model I'm my late model, I suppose my caliper brackets could be different as well. As for the rear I want an entirely different axle so I can have an air or electric locker option.

Washed the van today and on the way home from work saw a vehicle wearing our vans next color... Getting ready to prep for paint in the next month or so, can't wait to get this thing done!

Stupid Astro fuel pumps... my latest mod because it stranded my wife in the middle of the street on the way home from lunch.

For reference the one in there was the bargain Airtex brand installed by the PO in March this year. A new Delphi is being installed in its place, hopefully it will last longer! So who was mocking me for wanting to install an access panel to replace these unreliable things?

I was. Airtex = crap. An ACDelco/Delphi pump should last well over 100k miles when the fuel filter is changed every 20k miles. Blame the PO, replace it the right way by dropping the tank with quality parts and don't worry about it for a long time.

I've had 5 of these vans as regular drivers and once I got on the ACDelco/Delphi only band wagon I've only replaced pumps once per van.

The fuel filter is located on the uni-frame between tank and engine.

Thanks, I'll get that in today. I think I got a good deal on the Delphi pump- $90 plus $9 for the intake screen.

One tip I saw on ASV that I plan to use when/if I swap MY fuel pump:

Lengthen the fuel lines, etc. so that you can drop the tank without disconnecting everything first - especially so since your van (like mine) is lifted.

But it's so easy to disconnect the lines with the tank in place. Seriously, it is. The soft lines connect to the body's hard lines in the space between the tank and the drive shaft. Just have to remove the plastic shield on the passenger side of the tank to see them.

I disconnect the lines here first, then use the weak fuel pump to pump the fuel out of the tank before lowering it.
