Thanks guys. Something that is not in the pictures is the 1/2" x 1/2" x1/8" angle that runs the length of each slider on the undersides. When I built a set for my 2001 1500 shortbed I found I needed to do somthing to keep my highlift jack from slipping around. The angle is easy to weld in place and no one knows it is there untill I need it. Details on the build are as follows. 2" x 4" x 3/16 tube for the rail, 2" x 2" x1/4" for the cross members. 2" x 6" x 1/4 for the vertical stiffener and 2" x 2" x 1/4" ears. 1/2" grade 8 bolts for the lower mount points, single 3/8" grade 8 for the upper mount points. The bottom surface of the cross members are flush with the bottom of the frame and the outside edge of the rails are plumb with the truck sides and have 1/2" clearance between the cross members and the body seam. With the 1500 short bed I had no problem lifting the truck up on two tires from just about anywhere along the sliders. I hope I can duplicate that with the 5.9 up front... I finish them off with a strip of 4" wide no slip adhesive stair tread.
