Roof Rack height question

Can a LJ/TJ with a 3" lift, 33" tires and a roof rack, Kargomaster or Garvin, fit in a 7' high garage door?

Well my XJ is lifted 5" with 33's and I have a Surco rack that is mounted to my stock roof rack rails and it just fits. I bet you'll fit.

Garvin or Kargomaster ought to have a measurement available from the top of the tub to the top of their rack. That distance will always be the same regardless of tire size and lift height. A quick call to them might be the fastest way to find out.

Or they might have a manual available online at the respective websites.

With 33's, Garvin rack and 2 in lift I fit with plenty of room.

Thanks guys, just wanted to know what can of worms I was going to open up when the lift and the rack goes on. don't have the time to modify on my own garage, to my clients homes to get finished.

Some late information for the kargomaster...

34 inches from the top of the tub to the top of the crossbars, which are 1 inch above the bump.

75 inches from the ground to the top of the crossbars - 31 inch tires and no lift.

Yes I am happy with it. Its very sturdy and it easily carries everything I need, including a future tense roof tent. There are a couple of things you might want to know about. Bear in mind I have the add-on crossbars for carrying kayaks rather than the platform style rack...

1. Its a heavy beast. I can't remember how heavy but the UPS guy was complaining. The crossbars are heavy too.
   
2. The crossbars are 2 inch diameter so none of the standard Thule/Yakima stuff fits. So I had to get longer bolts for the rocket box and I'll need to make my own kayak stackers from the ladder stops that come with the crossbars. Kargomaster sells brackets so you can use standard 1 inch diameter crossbars but they're bulky and would interfere with flat stuff (like a roof tent) on the rack.
   
3. Its a PITA to undo the bolts at the windshield to hinge the whole rack back to fold down the soft top. Now I just unzip the windows and enjoy the shade.
   
4. The antenna rattles against the windshield mount. I fabricated a bracket from a suitably shaped piece of plastic milk jug to stop the antenna from moving.
   
5. I bought the rack this spring so I haven't found out whether it resists the corrosive Northeast winters like they claim.
   
6. If you just want to mount it on a hard top you can rotate the front-back bars 90 degrees so the bumps face inwards rather than upwards, but you'll have to drill some new holes. I use both tops so I kept the bump. I found it doesn't get in the way.

I had 33's and 4" of susp and 1" of body on my TJ and the top of the rack(old straight bar style set for a hardtop) with the kargomaster basket was 7'2". I now have 35'5 and I have the extra inch of height. Don't forget that however tall your rig is, you need to make sure your CB/two-way antenae is an inch or two taller. I could drop the height by an inch or two by setting the bar for a softtop, but I do run the hardtop in the colder months.

My rig is a 2004 Rubicon with 4 1/2-in RE long arm lift with 285/75R16 (33-in) tires. With the Congo Cage and Cargo Master Rack I'm 7-ft 2-inches to the top of the rack. Sounds like you would be the same height with your rig?
