Roof Top Tents

Great timing for this thread. The group buy has sparked my interest. I'm leaning more towards the fiberglass style RTT. CVT said they have 5 new models coming out...hopefully, one of them is a wider maggiolina type RTT.

Nice looking rack! The ones we really like are the low profile ones that tuck the tent right in behind the cab, but they are all custom made and I'm not a welder. :/

I agree with the low profile racks; really wanted the tent to be level with the roof line as I'm not a fan of all that weight up so high.
Those pelfreybilt racks look really nice and at least you toyota guys have off the shelf options

There's a guy on TacomaWorld who makes low racks that can hold a tent just above the bed. I believe his username is SingleCabGuy

That rack is pretty awesome. Just need one for a F350. I would actually like for it to sit a little lower than cab height

Didn't read into that thread but that looks a lot like a copy of BoxRocket's. He isn't currently taking new orders but I plan to copy his fairly closely (for personal use, not to sell). Worth a look at his build also, he is on here and Tacoma World.

I also have a big ground tent but would like a RTT for trips where I am sleeping somewhere new every night. Now that I have went from an extra cab to double cab I no longer have the bed length for a sleeping platform under a shell. I need another option for quick set up and point to point trips. I would choose one tent or the other depending on the trip type.

Where is this group buy going on?

I went the RTT rout 2 years ago and am very happy. I looked at a lot of tents all were made in China but not all were the same quality. I went with the TEPUI. It is made in China but seems to be equal quality to the South African models. I looked at the EEZI-AWN, I saw nothing on the web site that says where they are made. I even emailed asking and never got a response.
