Would be nice but, in my experiences wages have never kept up with inflation.Prices aren't going to come down. It will be a slow crawl for wages to come up.

When I was young, first 'real' job I was able to afford rent, food, etc... 20 years ago, if I recall correctly... I *think* rent for the two bedroom apartment was $650ish? As a newbie I think I was making 20ish bucks an hour doing QC for a fab shop. Doubt very much they start people off at $40 an hour now...
Now that same apartment is like $1,400.
Don't want this to turn political but, I will say a agree and leave it at that.Cheap imported humans from across the border kept your wages down. Honestly, everything is a supply and demand deal. In my area, humans without papers will work for $7.00 hr. (Sad)
If you want wages to increase, close the borders.
I am new to overlanding after realizing this ........
Will overland camper prices stay up, stabilize, or decrease over the next 12 to 24 months? What do you think?

It's impossible to have an intelligent discussion of economics over the last 4.5 years without considering covid policies and their effects. If you think covid = politics, then I can't help you.Is this a forum to discuss politics or the economy?
If you are referring to me, that would be a first. 🤪Ya sorry Todd I got sucked in by the red necks.
Red neck translation, that should be;Your you are referring to me, that would be a first. 🤪
I agree with this. Maybe it should be moved to fireside.Okay this is an expedition overland trailer - retail string. Not sure why this whole post is here. We have folks posting from two different countries. Let's face it this folks who can afford these can of trailers are not effected by inflation so much. Maybe this string should be moved to Mass produced - retail trailer or Fox News
This is incorrect. Fuel costs have not doubled. Gas now costs about 50 cents a gallon more than pre-pandemic. Prices dropped early in the pandemic due to low demand, then took a jump when Russia invaded Ukraine. At any rate, prices vary with the global cost of oil and no president or government has much influence. This is easy to research if anyone really wants to know.Fuel costs are basically double what they were, ... I go back to fuel costs for my Tacoma which are twice what they were pre-pandemic. This is largely due in my case to Biden's Presidential policies to promote Electric Vehicles, solar and wind power, and similar political policies.
Great example of my previous post about economics and political views. Simply misguided.Inflation is real. You can argue what caused it but, the cost of everything has gone up in real terms.
Ask yourself why eggs have doubled or more in price. Fuel costs are basically double what they were, chicken feed has gone up in similar manner, etc.
Whether your wages have gone up at the same rate or not largely depends on what you did during the shutdown to improve your lot or sit at home soaking up benefits while watching TV, doing Social Media, and playing video games. Most people's wages were basically flat and are now starting to rise a little in most cases. Whether wages increase to match inflation or not varies from person to person and their profession.
Regarding prices of Overlanding equipment, part of it is also due to customers demanding added features that older options never had. Part of it is also more stringent government requirements of all sorts. I am not anti-green or anti-safety but, a lot of their Green initiatives have done nothing but drive up costs of products of all sorts, again I go back to fuel costs for my Tacoma which are twice what they were pre-pandemic. This is largely due in my case to Biden's Presidential policies to promote Electric Vehicles, solar and wind power, and similar political policies.
All of this directly impacts the costs of Overlanding trailers, van conversions, and Recreational Vehicles of all sorts. Higher input costs, added features, and related government mandates for improved environmental and energy efficiencies all related directly to more stringent government requirements and related costs add to the mix of higher costs.
