Would be nice but, in my experiences wages have never kept up with inflation.
When I was young, first 'real' job I was able to afford rent, food, etc... 20 years ago, if I recall correctly... I *think* rent for the two bedroom apartment was $650ish? As a newbie I think I was making 20ish bucks an hour doing QC for a fab shop. Doubt very much they start people off at $40 an hour now...
Now that same apartment is like $1,400.
Cheap imported humans from across the border kept your wages down. Honestly, everything is a supply and demand deal. In my area, humans without papers will work for $7.00 hr. (Sad)
If you want wages to increase, close the borders.
By 2028, all jobs that are repetitive each day, each hour, will have $1.00hr value. As most will be replaced by AI.

Don't want this to turn political but, I will say a agree and leave it at that.
Our PM bungled that and it also caused a housing shortage here which impacted rents and house prices.

A new report suggests Calgary is seeing the highest yearly rental increase amongst all Canadian cities as vacancy rates continue to decline.
We are still one of the most affordable big cities in Canada. However, that's causing a lot of people to move here from BC and Ontario where housing is much more expensive. It's also causing a lot of people immigrating to Canada to choose Edmonton. However our city isn't doing anything to spur housing builds to accommodate all the people moving here or dealing with the necessary infrastructure like roadways, schools, hospitals etc....
More than 100,000 people moved to Edmonton in two years, driving the population up to 1.14 million in 2023 from just over a million in 2021 — a 10 per cent increase, according to Statistics Canada and City of Edmonton projections. Another 100,000 people are projected to move to Edmonton within the next 3 years.

Okay this is an expedition overland trailer - retail string. Not sure why this whole post is here. We have folks posting from two different countries. Let's face it this folks who can afford these can of trailers are not effected by inflation so much. Maybe this string should be moved to Mass produced - retail trailer or Fox News

Next 12 months prices will stabilize over 24 months prices decrease based on what bang for the buck you can get, in other words, stable price with more options but not better quality.

Right, everyone hit the road with COVID work remote so a lot of RVs were bought, high demand, caused short supply. That drove prices up. Drive by an RV lot today and they are packed with inventory. People are back to the office either by choice or demand, so less working remote. Prices will fall.
In my area a person washing dishes makes the same as a new hire QC inspector in a fab shop. The difference being that a QC inspector may have the opportunity to move up and will gain technical knowledge on the job. If they have the aptitude they could eventually go for a degree in engineering or be a manufacturing lead. Either way is a challenging road that wont let anyone who doesn't have it together pass.
Mostly likely neither occupation will allow a person to be able to afford a house in my area. I think Bellingham was also just marked as the highest poverty area in the state due to cost of living and unfortunately skilled labor and manufacturing will have to go elsewhere.
There are places in this country where people can buy homes and create opportunities but they won't be handed out. Some immigrants are coming here and making things happen (AKA The American way). The rules apply the same to all the common folk. People can coast on entitlement but it's only going to get them so far.

IMHO the only constant across countries, generations, geopolitical situations is the cost of a beer. You can compare Phoenician era beer to 10th century china to London during WWx or North America in the 70s or today. The cost of a beer vs average wage will tell you how the society is doing.

This is incorrect. Fuel costs have not doubled. Gas now costs about 50 cents a gallon more than pre-pandemic. Prices dropped early in the pandemic due to low demand, then took a jump when Russia invaded Ukraine. At any rate, prices vary with the global cost of oil and no president or government has much influence. This is easy to research if anyone really wants to know.
Great example of my previous post about economics and political views. Simply misguided.
