Sailing the Caribbean~~~

Hi all,

Desertdude and I are just returning from an 18 day trip to the beautiful island of Grenada, and sailing the Caribbean through St. Vincent and the Grenadines.:088:

I know, I know---where are the pictures! We are sorting through over 1,000 images, so as soon as we can we will get some pictures out. In the mean time----the islands are superb! The people of Grenada and St. Vincent are super warm, friendly, beautiful, intelligent and laid back. The colors are a sensual delight to the eyes, and riding the "reggae bus" and taxis to and from the farmers market is a blast! They love to play the reggae music loud.

Fresh vegetables of every color and description are abundant and we ate our share of pineapple, papayas, wax apples and others that were not familiar, but delicious. Oh, and yeah---we drank a fair amount of locally produced rum! Westerhall Rum being our favorite--yum!

We got on board our bareboat sail boat with some totally cool friends of ours, provisioned with veges and rum and spent 10 days sailing the unreal blue waters around the Windward Islands. We had a 46ft Bavaria and everyday we sailed and every evening we anchored off a beautiful tropical island, swam in the insanely clear waters of the Caribbean, drank rum and watched the super colorful sunsets.

We are now adjusting to cell phones, computers, driving and work :smilies27 :

Promise of pictures and more trip report to come.

"It's all easy, Mon"~~~

Hi Brian,

Not a day went by that we did not think of you and Amy sailing these same waters!

Yes, Tobago Cays. Unreal beautiful! Snorkeled with lots of Caribbean Sea Turtles and enjoyed lots of conversations with the very colorful boat vendors.

We sailed around Union Island, Mayreux, Petit St. Vincent (the water there was stunning!) Petit Martinique, Carricou, Grenada and of course the stunning Tobago Cays!!

What a mind expanding and life changing trip---living on the water was really cool!

Some day I'll get down that way. Ideally in a Grumman Goose......

I think for that brief moment he was thinking of having to return to work ----- as soon as the sails went up---big smiles again!

Welcome home! We're sad the trip had to end, but happy to have you back. Dang, look at that water... I've been away from the sea too long. Time for a trip!
