San Juan Mountains Epic Adventure 2012

We started out on the famous switchbacks of Black Bear Pass
Saw these crazy kids swinging on cables high above Telluride
Then ran into these guys running the Trans America Trail west from its start in TN.
Bridal Veil Falls and Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric power plant from above, the second-oldest operating AC power generation facility in the US. The oldest is nearby in Ophir.
Passing through Telluride to Imogene Pass trail, we see the switchbacks we just came down
After a lunch stop we keep heading up to Imogene Pass,
and we find another 360 degree view peak, these might have been my favorite views the whole trip. <maybe>
Down the hill
And over to an ice mine, Hidden Treasure Mine
Across a water bridge at Imogene Creek
Past Revenue Mine
Up to Yankee Boy Basin
Where we found another lake
Pinnacles in the setting sun
and we finished up the day with dinner in Ouray

The next day we started out down Ophir pass, crazy colors here -
and passed through the tiny town of Ophir.
Off to Alta Lakes, where we fed the ducks, watched marmots swimming and took pics.
We took Last Dollar Rd up through the rain and landed in a dry spot with amazing vistas of the storm all around us. Folks running video caught a LOT of lightning strikes, it was a really cool spot to watch the show from.
Out through the aspens and puddles from the storm. I'd love to see these trees when their colors change.
To Last Dollar Ranch, followed by dinner in Ridgway at True Grit.
Stole some campfire and had ourselves a great evening.

Well I posted most of the ones from my G9 on facebook. I have a new laptop that doesn't want to play nice with my SLR so I'm waiting on a card reader. Should be here tomorrow. However tomorrow is my Monday so any pics, epic ones, wont be available til Sunday the soonest.
. Boy the good old days when you could do it in 2way traffic....now was fun.....had to rinse your unddies at the streams.
