Scangauge ordered...

...Should be here next week.

How does one program in things like the AT temp?

Also, is it pretty flexible about what features can be displayed? From what I've seen it will display a max of 4 fields at once. What I'd like to do is have it display the following:

AT TEMP
Distance to Empty
Instant MPG
Average MPG

Is that possible? The DTE becomes my de facto "gas gauge" since the gauge in the 3rd gen 4runner is so unreliable.

Looking forward to having the last suction cup off my windshield. The Scangauge will be mounted on a Sat Radio stick-on bracket mounted to the dash.

Good for you! Yes, 4 items at once. If those are the items you want to monitor, you're good-to-go.

Following the directions for entering an Xgauge, enter the following codes when prompted...

TXD: 686AF101B4
RXF: 044105B40000
RXD: 2808
MTH: 00090005FFD8
NAME: ATF, tAT, etc. - your choice.

Tango you gotta situation with your link!

I need to look into what all I can put on my scangauge...thanks for reminding me Martin!

I use TPS, average/current mpg, and speed. Mine is set up to help get better gas mileage though. TPS and instant REALLY teach you where you need to keep your throttle to maximize your MPG, and keeps you more 'consistant' as you can see when you are starting to increase the throttle just a bit.

I've been using an Ultra Gauge on mine, the UG can display 6 fields on each of 3 screens. Mine is set up to show: Average MPG, Instant MPG, DTE, Engine Load (a %), Intake temp and something else (maybe coolant temp?) The UG can't show the AT temp, though, which is why I ordered the SG. When the SG gets installed, the UG goes into my DD which has a manual tranny and doesn't need an AT temp.

I've found the Instant MPG to be very useful in keeping my fuel consumption down!

I don't have a situation with the link Caoboy - Woody does! The MUD link was with the same information and a laundry list of folks who applied it and were successful.

No difference... the codes listed are for programming the SG to register AT temp. I monitor AT, water temp, RPM, and air temp at the MAF (I have a snorkel and it gives an approximation of ambient temp when moving).

You're welcome... ;)

Good purchase, I have one in my Taco. I was most concerned with monitoring the AT temp. And am very glad to be able to keep a close eye on it. I also have it setup to monitor the batt voltage, intake air, and water temp. great piece of equipment, and nothing like being able to pull codes without having to go to the auto parts store!

For those of you with Scan Gauges and Toyotas with the 3.4L and auto tranny, have you ever noticed you can instantly lower your transmission temp 10 to 15 degrees by turning off your overdrive?

I haven't noticed it myself, but it makes sense. The owner's manual recommends turning the overdrive off when towing, though it does so for improved engine braking. I wonder how much of an impact turning the OD off has on MPG?
