Scepter "Military" Fuel Can Gasket Alert!

With the exception of gaskets, spare parts are getting pretty hard to come by. Canadian based Scepter dealers absolutely won't ship to the US. I've got a lead on some spare cap assemblies (cap/flange/gasket/strap), I'll be sure to post if/when they ever materialize.

Thanks Kurt. I'll be first in line if you get your hands on some. PM me if I am not paying attention and miss the thread update.

Edit: Speaking of not paying attention....I subscribed to this thread so no need for PM if you post up here when (if) they become available. Thx

Ok when fueling up for upcoming trip on Monday I noticed I have been impacted by this. :Wow1:

I have color coded cans, red for Gas and yellow for diesel. All my caps have grey colored gaskets so I assume they are already Viton. But both my gas and diesel caps have the retention rings broken off and the gaskets can just fall out now.

This thread talks a lot about different gaskets and where to get them. I'm not sure where I can get replacement caps with the proper gaskets.

Any suggestions?

They still seal this way but the gaskets are loose and have to be positioned when closing the caps now.

Were the rings broken off when you bought them? The breakage is only supposed to occur from rubber gaskets that have swelled up due to gasoline.

There is one gouger (Nevets) who has some outrageous scalper prices posted on every offroad forum available as well as E-Pay

No, my rings were not broken when I bought them about 2 years ago. Just noticed the problem in the last few months.

Kurt, Any updates on the potential of you getting your hands on some replacement cap assemblies? :sombrero:

You can also try Brigade Quartermaster. I believe they still have some replacement gaskets available.

They don't seem to have spare parts listed on line but supposedly no spare parts for any Scepter fuel can are to be sold to anyone but Government types.

Even fuel spouts at BQM have the following note:

Does not comply with CARB regulations. For Military Purchase and Use only.

I have some NEW Scepter fuel cans for sale as well as some NEW Scepter spouts. Also used Scepter water cans. Contact me at srisken@charter.net

Waaaaaaaaaaay too expensive. :Wow1:

Besides, you should advertise in the "For Sale" section with a listed price rather than posting in anyone else's thread.

Contraband has arrived :D

A dozen or so spouts, a couple dozen cap assemblies and some spare red (gasoline) straps. I've set aside all the ones locals were needing, we have a limited amount of spares. Not looking to make money on these, just re-coupe what we paid to get them here. Spouts $38 (4 left), Caps $25 (10 left, includes red strap, cap, flange and Viton gasket), Straps $9 (5 left).

EDIT: I'm 100% out of spares. I brought these in mostly to service my fleet of Scepters so it wasn't made to be a money-maker by any means. I've got a small stash of spare parts remaining for my cans but other than that, I'm out!
