Seat covers?

I have a 99 D1 and I want to get some seat covers for it. The leather is in good shape and I really just want to protect it from getting torn up. I have the seat style with the head rest so the Escape gear seat cover don’t fit right and I don’t want to spend 300 buck on something that just kind of fits. Are there any others out there so am I left with okoles

thanks

I'm in the exact same boat. $300 in seat covers? Gimme a break. I can buy a new seat for that much. Anybody found a cheapo(AutoZone, PepBoys, etc) that fits decent?

I'm interested in what you mean by "the Escape gear seat cover don’t fit right". The fit on the standard Disco 1 seats seems like a good fit to me. Do you have a different style seat than the one in the picture?

Yep, at least the 98's and 99's have a full headrest that moves up and down. VERY comforatable too I might add.

OK, that makes sense that you have movable head rests. Were they standard on all North American D1's

I think you'd be amazed at the number of vehicles that are sold worldwide i.e. Land Rovers and Land Cruisers, where the seats fitted to each model differ from region to region.

Escape Gear is working with the US importer right now on North American seat covers for the Land Cruisers as some of them differ from the models imported to South Africa. If this is also the case with D1's then maybe there is a solution.

That would be great, I love the covers I just can pay that much and have them not fit right.

Just a guess but those seats have always looked a lot the ones on the RRC to me-maybe a cover made for the RRC seats would fit?

Another idea would be to find the material you like and have an set made for them, a good upholstry shop should be able to handle it.

I will check with Escape Gear South Africa and see if this is something they have come across as well, and get back to you soon.

1994 - 1997 had the "sissy back" front seats (seats had the grab handles on the back) WITH THE EXCEPTION ... in 1996 and 1997 if you purchased an LSE model, you could get the more comfortable head rest back seats.
In 1998 that seat became standard and was also standard on the rare (limited production) 1999 DI. The all new DII seats for 1999 were completely different.

So, while the classic seats were all the same from 1986-1994 (except that some had horizontal panels and some had vertical panels sewn on the centers of the seats), the change came on Classic seats in 1995 (a proprietary year for Classic seats).

Currently, Escape Gear is not making (to the best I can tell) the seat covers for the DI LSE seats, or any of the Range Rover Classic seats. Only the "sissy back" early DI seat covers.

Hope that didn't further confuse you!

Thanks
