The rear ratio for my 2004 FG639 is 5.714. Tyres are about 30 in. OD on 16 in wheels. I have seen larger wheels on newer FE's. I redline on the tach at about 110 kph.

Roughly the same here with a 99 FG and 301/2" tires. FG's are geared lower than FE's.

Much higher engine rpm at highway speeds on the 649 and older models than the 140's and 84's. Don't anyone get mixed up here.

one of the best things about the 11.00R16 (38") tyres on mine (FG649) is the beaut highway cruising, 100km/h at 2500rpm, and uses hardly any fuel, post DPchip getting about 6.5 km/L. flip side of that coin is the already shocking gear splits on these trucks are made even worse, particularly the gap between 3rd-4th.

well i only have it set very conservatively, IMO this is how it should have come from factory. still hardly smokes at all, but torque is impressive compared to stock. you can see it in the boost it makes. to get 10psi was before around 2250rpm. now is 1700-odd, max boost is 16.5psi at 2500, verse 14 before (still running turbo without wastegate).
main reason for conservative tuning is i havent figured how to adjust the idle, which is now a tad high. soon as i figure that, its getting turned waaaay up... i wanna be painting the pavement black behind me :D

oh yeah and as i said, if you dont use the extra power, your economy will improve substantially.
