7T WLL for a 3/4" is right in line with those I mentioned. I'm not familiar with with the Yoke brand though.

Who care where it's made 7t is 7t. We are living in a world economy now and that will never change, just get over it.

There's a pretty well documented history of counterfeit product coming from China so some people might care. I have no reason to suspect that's the case here, especially since York is actually Japanese and I assume has QC inspectors at the factory in China.
However, given that some Chinese manufactures have no problem labeling something "Boeing" that is a knock off, there's no reason to think some random company would have a problem labeling a 4t shackle as 7t, or even deciding 3:1 design factor is good enough for a 7t, rather than the more standard 5:1.
Like said though, I have no reason to think that's the case here, just pointing out why some people might care.

Having been in the rigging industry in the past, the 7T rating for a 3/4" shackle indicates an "alloy" material, regular carbon steel are rated at 4-3/4 ton for the same size. Alloy material is more costly than regular materials. All material is an alloy to some extent. Bear in mind, 4-3/4T is 9500 pounds, the pull rating for my winch. If using a pulley, "snatch block", the pull can double the load on the shackles and other inlione components of the pull. Not going to get into a rigging class here.
I use Crosby shackles as the Standard. It is not only my safety, but others and the vehicle. The prior poster is correct, there have been various counterfeits from Asian countries. I have seen rigging failures first hand and it is not pretty. I am sure we have all seen "knock-off" anythings. Generally lower quality, but not always.
Cost is important, but consider overall cost during ownership. Every industry I have worked in requires an annual inspection of rigging equipment (cables, blocks, hooks, etc.) and sometimes more frequently.
At least YOKE is applying a lot of info on the shackle.
What do we do in the expo lifestyle. Remember, "lowest cost from a qualified supplier" may not be the "lowest cost supplier".
Just my opinion, worth $0.02 or less.

I am a Theatrical / TV lighting Technician, which involves overhead rigging of truss and other equipment. We are only allowed to use Crosby or Chicago hardware.

Anyone can cast 7T into a part that does not make it rated at 7T unless they can guarantee or back it up with certified testing. (and that is always offered on paper when requested by all top rigging companies) The ratings for companies like Crosby Columbus Mckinnon ect have been tested by independant reputable bodies some government & or private. These cheap products that place CE or matched WLL ratings of top brands are trying to capitalize on most peoples inexperience and some are just plain BOGUS. If someone gave me a offshore shackle..... I'd be putting in in the scrap pile and sending it back to where it came from.

The Yoke shackles, according to their web site, have test certificates available and meet CSA certification, for one.
Just because a product comes from "off-shore" doesn't automatically mean it's bad. Van Beest shackles do. Anyone would be crazy to throw away a Van Beest shackle just because they weren't US made.
I agree people should be aware, but discounting something claiming safety as the reason, solelybecause it comes from off-shore is just silly.
