so, in your opinion, where would you be if you ran a rtt and stuffed top rack(i.e. 2-5 fuel cans, recovery gear, drybags, water, or what have you)? i agree with your opinion of it being balanced, but if you bumped to a rtt, would you go one notch heavier in the rear springs?

thanx, joe

i love your rig by the way!

Thanks Joe, though I don't have experience here to answer. I've always wanted a roof rack though I'm not willing to park outside the garage. With the rooftop being over the rear 2/3 of the vehicle I would bet an 863 would be fine UNTIL I loaded the rack. Rather than putting on 864's I'd opt for air bags. I'd only go 864's IF I was running loaded quite often. Otherwise stiff stiff stiff.

El Gringo Spectacular!
The vast majority of 864 sprung 80 and 100s sit sky high in the rear unless really, really loaded. IIRC the 864 springs were designed for rigs with large rear carriers, internal loads, water tanks, etc.

My 80 worked very well unloaded and fully loaded with the 853s.

Ya on the 864's. That's why I'd try air bags first. I would be the compressor for them as I have I myself have a lot of hot air already.

Nice Cruiser. I recognize you from some of those pics also. I wheeled with you once or twice back when you had the 93'. I had a white ext cab 93' pickup SAS'ed with a tube bed.

I think it was a Charoleau Gap if I am not mistaken. And it was probably 4-5 years ago. I was more into the hardcore rockcrawling thing back then.

Thanks! And ya...I'm pretty sure I remember that beast of yours!

It might be a little more built up in this picture than you remember it!

I'm rarely on the forums any more Ibrahim. I never wheel any more either. Thanks for your comments. 315x75-16 tires. OME L-shocks for the 80-series. That's about it. Oh, 80-series rear springs...863. Enjoy!
