Should I swap my 1997 TJ for a 1994 YJ?

Three, the I-6 is a dog...
You are smoking crack...SFA's (although I rather have a Toy axle) and the 4.0L are the only things that make me envious of Jeeps.

Keep the Tj, you've already got Coils and the 6, plus you don't have to kick yourself everytime you realize you traded INTO square headlights.

Cheers

Dave

The 6 might have torque available right off idle and decent reliability but its still a dog. Here is a dyno sheet of mine stock before I swapped in a different motor. 122HP at the rear wheels is pretty pathetic as is 150lb/ft of torque.

Touche'... What ytear 4l is that? Pre 97? All I can say is that my Dad's 4.0L Xj that I've been driving the last 3 days gets after it, and all the XJ's I've owned were quick as well.

That was out of my 98 TJ stock with 93K on the ticker. I also have a 2000 XJ that my daughter drives and its way spunkier than my TJ ever was.

The first dyno graph attached below is my *new*4.0 right after the build-up but without any tuning. The second is with the addition of a Unichip piggyback computer and some dyno tuning time. Much better for pulling the Horizon but I still think there is more to be had.....

I'm looking for a nice YJ 4 popper for a DD, have you seen this Jeep? Would it be worth the trip from NJ?

I haven't seen it in person but I did email the owner a couple of days ago and he says its in great shape except the soft top. Apparently there has been quite a bit of interest in the vehicle but it appears he also listed it on Craigslist again today here.

There probably aren't many low mileage YJs around which is why this one sparked my interest.

Cheers,
Graham

Nope, not a fan of crack. The 4.0L is great off road...even running around town it isn't to bad. Ton of torque down low, with the 4:1 t'case it idles over everything I point it at off road...but put a trailer behind one, put it on the freeway, and point it up a 6% grade and just TRY to keep up with a Chevy sprint.
