Have a look at Napa gold Lifetime brakes. Wear them out, bring them back and get a new set! works great! Plus they don't rust either.

Got the Jeep back yesterday. Ended up being an issue with the wiring of the 3rd brake light shorting out, which means I would probably have never found it. Likely a product of my terrible wiring when installing the ARB rear bumper 2 years ago

Found this gem from my previous trip to Hidden Falls with the entire Jeep group I went with. Again, it was an absolute blast.

Figured I would make use of my perfectly good Gobi Rack:elkgrin:

So just a little fun I had today being the end of my first week back in class during my Elementary German lecture. Today we learned how to answer the question "Was studieren Sie?" or "What do you study?". To answer you say "Ich studiere *insert field of study*". Being my degree is in Geology she gave me two ways to say it "Geologie" or "Steinkunde", Steinkunde being the one that caught my interest. The literal translation according to my professor is "to explore rocks" or varying definitions include petrology, lithology, or basically anything to do with rocks and is the normal word used in Germany to describe someone who does their studies in geosciences. That being said my Jeep explores rocks and geographic features and maybe this isn't legal among Jeep owners but I'm tempted to rename my Jeep "Steinkunde". Why? Well one is the literal translation, however while attempting to make the Jeep a better overland platform I feel that it should appeal universally and personally. That said, it appeals universally to a European country and it appeals directly into my field of study. Neat right!? Of coarse that would mean I would need to get with a forum moderator to have a slight change made to the thread name. I don't know, just neat idea I'm tossing around :friday:

Edit: New name, Steinkunde didn't stick

My Jeep has been in the family 16 years and still doesn't have a formal name. Also being a Geology major, I'm sorely tempted to steal this name haha. The only issue is that I would like to think I bleed red white and blue and naming it in a foreign language just seems preposterous. Then again, I currently call her El Jeepe, a tribute to me ad my buddies raising Cain in Spanish class in a very southern school and not exactly nailing the accent......

Well another biggie is that German blood runs pretty thick through my veins so I see no reason why I shouldn't rename the Jeep something that reflects both my ancestry and field of study. In reality "Peaches" has only stuck for a year or so if not less so I won't feel too sorry about replacing, especially considering "peach" isn't a true orange like Impact Orange (the Jeep's paint code). Also, I would likely have the RUBICON stickers replaced with the name, so it would be a good conversation starter for anyone unfamiliar with me or the Jeep.

Man, everything you add makes the name even better! I guess the only thing blocking it would be changing the current name. I'm not sure how that works, it's not like Jeeps are boats or aircraft, right? At least not most of the time?

I will neither confirm or deny that my Jeep has been airborne and possible gone for deep swims:)...so it possible, maybe, perhaps could be labeled a boat or aircraft

Pretty sure I've made up my mind on the change, just need to find a forum moderator to make a few edits on the thread title and my username

Edit: Changed again

Well as y'all can see, the new name consideration has stuck and the changes have been made. Edit: Not anymore

Current plans on the Jeep are fairly stagnant. Still looking to replace my brake rotors, likely looking at NAPA pads. Also considering replacing my current AFE intake. Why? Well the intake works very well when it's clean, but it never stays clean more than a few weeks. Reason be, it's the typical open box intake with really no way to keep debris and dust out so my filter clogs very quickly. I am also afraid of how prone my current intake is to causing hydrolock. I have two options; find a used stock intake and put a quality filter in or replace with a more expensive "closed box" intake from AFE, Volant, etc. Here's my dilemma. Is it worth paying $300 for an aftermarket intake (despite the long lived debate of aftermarket intakes with the 4.0) that may or may not yield gains, get the quality filter, and get a the closed box design I need or stick with the proven stock box with a quality intake. Finding a stock air box will probably be a little difficult and for some reason I have a mental block against buying a new stock intake. Just something to think about.I am also considering investing in a 2 wheeled daily to get to school and back. The one I am considering is a 70's Honda CL350 sitting in our barn back in Texas. Why this bike in particular? This bike is actually my dad's first vehicle and was his daily while in college during the 70's and has been in his possession since. I've never seen this bike actually run in my lifetime but cosmetically it looks decent. I would need to rebuild the motor/carb and would likely need to replace all brake lines etc. I'm unsure of the entire extent of repairs as well as unsure of how willing my dad is to selling the bike due to sentimental reasons. I'll need to take a better look at the bike when I head home over Thanksgiving. I'll pull some photos of the bike off my phone and post them on here later.

Something I would also like to bring up is a trip to Magnet Cove, AR October 22nd/23rd. It's actually a field trip for my Mineralogy & Petrology class and look forward to driving out there in the Jeep, camp out, and hopefully get some neat photos.

Here is the Honda CL350

Here is the bike. Might ask around on the 2 wheeled side of the forum or a motorcycle forum about how worth it is trying to get this bike rolling again.
