Headed that way next week, it'll be my 7th year in a row to go on jeep tours with my
SOA friends (nope, still don't have my Chalet fixed to avoid its long-cruise annoyances). Last year I drove my low-riding VW to the end of the smooth part of the Arrastra Gulch road and hiked the rest of the distance to Silver Lake, and vowed to hike to the Little Giant Basin this year.
Is the Maggie Gulch road as smooth as you show for a long distance? I was under the impression is was narrow and rough. I was planning on scoping out that one next week, along with a few hikes at Red Mountain - Porphryry & McIntyre / Spirit Gulch. When ya don't got ground clearance, ya just do more walkin' or hire somebody else to do the drivin'.
