Well, I've been really busy in the last month. Not so much with the truck. I've actually been out using it and enjoying it. I ended up getting a new mountian bike instead of tires...I know, priorities, right

Okay, back to the truck.

I FINALLY got my front bumper re-located and re-connected all my lights, ect..
What a serious pain in the ***** this was. I ended up having a local ship basically stack a new set of the tubes that the bumper bolts pass through on the frame rail, but 2" directly above the originals. That and cutting the piece out of the rear bumper so the hitch will fit when the rear is raised.

You can lift the rear using some pre existing holes. I havnt done that yet as my bolts are really corroded and the new holes I need to use have 13 years of crud/rust in the threads, which leads me to this question.

Does anyone know what the thread pitch is? I need to het new bolts and a matching tap. I need to run the tap through the holes and clean up the threads. I dont knoe what tap to get ot where to get it. The mitsu dealer in my area has closed too.

I'm starting to get discourages with this project. Every thing I do seems to take WAAAYY too long and way to much effort. If I get this stupid bumper on, I'm going to leave it alone (except for adding 33x10.50's later) It is also getting expensive to drive with gas getting near $5/GL. I'm also at 192xxxMi.

I hate it when stuff you like gets old and wears out....

Good looking motor, are your roof bars standard or after market? our Pajero/Shogun's don't come with any.

Not sure if this helps, but I've found a lot of the larger bolts to be 1.75 thread pitch.

:elkgrin:I finally got my bumpers lifted...what a PITA that was.

Front: ended up having Johnny Franklins in Santa Rosa just weld on new mounts to the frame, Literally just stackes them right on top of the original ones, just 2" higher. I used some 1" square tubing cut to the same length as the stock mounts. Also had to cut @ 1 inch off the frame rails as they would not permit the bumper to be in the correct position if left there.

Rear: Got new hardware from Reliable in Santa Rosa. The guy there was cool. I wanted to buy a tap to clean out the threads from 13 years of crap. Tap was $40. He charged me $20 and had a guy go out to the parking lot and run the tap through holes for me.
The rear bumper brackets on the bumper have a "lip" that needed to be ground down in order to position the bumper higher up.
I re-drilled new holes in the inner bracket. the smaller outter bracket is noy used (at the moment) as the holes no longer line up.

JF also cut a slot in the rear bumper to allow the hitch to stick out.

The bumpers are not "perfect" but at this point "good enough".

Yep.
JF: $48 to remove 4 broken skidplate bolts (which NO OTHER SHOP WOULD DO, NOT EVEN MY DAD'S SHOP)
JF: $45 to cut slot in rear bumper, weld on ner front mounts (x4)
ReliableHW: $48 for 8 gr10 bolts 8 washers and tape 8 holes
Harbor freight: $14 for angle grinder (bumper bracket lip)
4Crawler: $135 2" lift kit.

Having a fun lifted rig to wheel with my kids; $ Priceless $

I've lurked on your build for a while and you seem quite knowledgeable for all of this. I was wondering a few questions without thread-stealing hopefully!

With jacking your T-bars all the way is the ride harsher and do you leak diff fluid like 100 series cruisers? If so is there a kit to fix this?

How can you take off your stock roofrack? I have a RTT and ARB that would fit if the stock rails were gone.
