You can't just mount one in front of the other? Mount on a board that has wiring that lets you lift it out like a beekeepers box?

Fitting the bigger inverter is going to be a project..... Someone didn't exactly

I May be able to mount is on a panel that is 90 degrees to the back wall. I need to get the old one out to see exactly. The places the wires run through thr floor aren't ideal....

Victron recommends running two 1/0 cables instead of a single 4/0. Two 1/0 carry more amps and is easier to do.

Keep an eye on the voltage drop when using that size inveter on a 12v battery bank.

I think the GX panel needs a BMV712 to obtain the battery data.

Yes they recommend running it upright, for cooling, but laid down is ok, and likely much easier for me. I got all the supplies for two 1/0 runs to power it. Real question is should i pull from two different battery terminals? My thinking is yes.

I have a BMV already, just upgrading the panel.

You need to properly balance the wiring on your battery bank. Running wires to different terminals makes this a challenge. You don't necessarily need to wire the inverter for minimal voltage drop at its rated power. At least if you aren't planning on using that level of power.

Currently I believe I am drawing as such. My memory is a little foggy, but I think that's how its wired. Ill know soon :D

I personally don't have issue with marine 4/0 cable. The strands are fine and it bends well. I find that crimping in place is the best way to get the lugs rotated properly on the big cables.

Mine are all 2/0 anyway, so I just got the double 1/0 stuff. And yes mocked up before crimping!

Now I am just wondering to myself If I need to go buy 2 more feet of wire just in case to save myself a headache this weekend..... Its not cheap sadly.

@luthj In the bank picture above, where would be two best places to pull the main power from be? Seems like the two I circiled would be decently balanced using "method 2" from the article.

Connect positive to one string, negative to the other. That will be balanced. Same as your photo shows.

The pic seems to show one pos (lower left battery) as + and another pos (upper right battery) as -. That ain't right.

But whatever...the rigging in that pic is not a SmartGuage "Method 2" rig. In a Method 2, all four negs are tied together in a line, and the same with the pos.

You need to add a jumper from say upper left battery neg, to lower left battery neg. That completes the four-in-a-row neg line.

Then re-rig the pos to jump upper left battery pos to upper right battery pos. Then upper right battery pos to lower right battery pos. Then lower right battery pos to lower left battery pos (remove lower left to upper left).

The your neg connection would be upper right battery, and your pos connection would be lower left battery.

(Someone double-check me on that...my brain just turned to mush scrolling up to the pic then back down to the text edit box on a phone...about a hundred times.)

Oops. I got it wrong. The first battery in the neg line should be the last battery in the pos line...

So. Add a jumper upper left neg to lower left neg. I got that part right.

Pos should go lower right to lower left to upper left to upper right.

Then your load (and charge) connects would be upper right neg and lower right pos.

I think...

All 6v'supper right is +, upper left is - on both banks.
