Those Andersen hitches are not that wide, maybe 5 - 6 inches so they will probably sink into soft ground without a base plate of some sort. The nice thing about them is, you put them in place on the low side and just pull forward until your bubble gage reads level. My plan is to have a gage mounted on the front of my camper trailer that I can see in my rear view mirror or backup camera. I'm also looking at an electronic leveling system that has a module you mount on the inside front wall, and it reads out to an app on your phone. That way you can be anywhere around the camper and see what's going on as you're working to level it.
