In all seriousness, I would hate to see you cut into that. It looks too well taken care of as a historical piece to start hacking into.

I"m all for mods and building what each person needs for themselves. But a piece of me still loves the history and care taken to preserve that. If you want to mod something to hell, please find a different donor trailer. :)

Nice find...where did you get it? Ive been looking for one in Florida, Georgia and ALabama now for a couple months and have only cme across a handful...most of which were already sold!

It looks nice but there is modification already done to it. The originals didnt have the tire on the back of the trailer or a gas can holder and didnt come prewired with a four flat trailer connection. Thats where the marking tags went. If i was a guessing kind of guy, they owner probably bought that in the same rusted out shape that the majority of them are in and brought it close to original, so he could have a matching trailer to his CJ3A i think is what model of jeep was used. Also of note, VERY nice find XC. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay? And when you get it can we see a pic of the floor?

Found the trailer on eBay, contacted the seller he stated an amount, I chose to take my chances with bidding on it and won it for $600. Yes the trailer was a good find for condition as it looks nice, there is rust here and there but nothing rusted through, it appears to have been sandblasted at some point. The 1st mod it to get the wiring switched over as nothing is compatible, I'll likely go 7-way so I can add a electric braked axle at some point. I plan to keep it similar to the way it looks at its pretty damn cool!. It tows like a dream and the tires have many miles to go, funny enough Cooper cross Country Military tires. I had an idea instead of a tower to mount the RTT perhaps a low profile slide system using ball bearing slides and support legs, this way the cargo hold may be accessed when the tent is slid into sleep position and I won't have to wake the girls while making breakfast.

Pictures and need to start a build thread.

those photo's are excellent. Not to be a pest but I can't see the back end at all. Any clear photo's of the back an how the tire and can holder are mounted? Thanks.

Cool man, yours is in great condition. From your eBay searching, are there usually a lot of bids on these guys?

Ok so a few questions:

#1The rear lights, replace with trailer lights or OE military?

#2 RTT's I'm trying to think of a non invasive way to mount a RTT but have yet to come up with anything. I thought of using Yakima cross bars mounted to the rails, build a tower of sorts, not really into a lid, build a GIANT fridge slide but an RTT slide so I can access my cargo and keep it somewhat safe.

#3 remove mil. wiring and replace with flat4 or 7way. I had planned on using a elec. brake axle at some point and backup lights would be nice.....

#4 marker lights, low profile LED (not the super cheepies) or none at all?

#5 thoughts? Questions?

I was originally going to do an overhaul, but the trailer is nice just how it is, though it needs to meet my requirements for a well thought build. I kinda dig the OD color and yea I might like desert tan better.

My suggestions in red:

Remove the military lights and keep them aside for later. I would install an off-the-shelf water resistant LED kit on the factory light tabs.

Not sure on this...

Leave the military wiring intact, remove it and store it with the lights. Run a new harness from scratch for your new lamps and brakes.

#4 marker lights, low profile LED (not the super cheepies) or none at all?

Yes, install LED marker lights.

#5 thoughts? Questions?

When you order your axle, if you plan to match your truck's rims, don't forget to ask about matching studs too. That way your lug nuts match as well.
