Say what you will im jealous of that trip! You have to take pavement if you want to see some of the best places. Travel is the goal not the trail :) ps. Where do your dogs sleep?

Thought I would share a video my wife made while we were driving back from our vacation in our Teardrop. We spent 9 days in the road and every night but the last in the trailer. This was mostly a road trip but we still ended up doing several nice trails. There's a little video of the trailer in this. The rest is on the GoPro, which I need to edit down.

I'm really looking into trying to see if I can go to the FJ Summit next year. I'm surprised I've haven't seen much discussion on the other sub-forums here. There's camp/RV sites in town and thinking about taking the trailer. Even though a hotel room would be nice as well.

I'm only gonna go if I can get some mods done to the truck. I need a lift, tires, and a bed rack would be nice.

Thanks! I'm the wife :sunflower. Our shepherd sleeps in the Jeep - he likes his space. Our boxer mix sleeps in the trailer with us. If we set up the tag-a-long tent, they will both sleep in that.

I'll try to get to the GoPro video in the next few days and post up a video of the TD on the trail.

Somehow managed to edit down 45 minutes of video from the McKinney/Rubicon Springs Road to a little over 3 minutes.

Also, I've never done a trip report in ExpoPortal before, but I blog about all of our trips with the TD here: Tales From the Adventure Wife. We couldn't be happier with our TD.

Hello all!

I have a '14 "model" 459 put together by Treeline Teardrops, which is effectively a SoCal Teardrop that was assembled in Petaluma, CA. It's pretty well equipped and running 35s.

Has anyone attempted to take their teardrop down one of the harder trails, like Dusy Ershim or the Rubicon? My main concern would be either clearance with the rear water tank hanging down a little under the frame, or with any drop offs since the break over angle in the rear of the trailer is significantly less then that of the Jeep on it's own.

Here are the details of what we run with: http://www.wranglerforum.com/jeep-profiles/37409/

First off, Props on your username haha. Second, the trailer may be able to do it but I would worry about clearance. I have not run the Rubicon personally so maybe someone else could chime in. You can take these trailers about anywhere you can take a truck with practice and patience.

I am considering contacting Treeline since I am right down the road! Appreciate any tips and how customer focused they are.

Yulli: thanks. This setup works really well for us.

Thanks about the user name. In the ye-olde days of AOL it kept telling me that my preferred screen names were taken and I had to pick an unused user name. I guess it worked.

Wifey loves camping but isn't ok with sleeping in a tent so we haven't tried these trails yet. We have gone all over the place otherwise though.

Tom is pretty great. Give him a call ahead of time. Every trailer is custom built, and there is usually a waiting list. I had about a 3 month turnaround.

He will need to know what you are towing it with and the rims/tires that are on the teardrop.

He has a demo model also.

I have the same trailer from Treeline in Petaluma pulled with a 2013 Jeep JKU and Max Coupler hitch. Last year I traveled the Utah Backcountry Discovery Route, including an excursion through the Lockhart Basin south of Moab. There were several sketchy sections and the trailer performed well. Where the Jeep went, the trailer followed. No problems with clearance. I don't have a water tank.

Hope this helps.
