I just got back from Ouray CO yesterday. 2500 mile round trip. Except I stayed at an RV site with the trailer. It's amazing down there and amazing up in the mountains. I saw some people camping but wasn't sure where it's safe to do so in certain parts. I did see 2 small tents off the trail in the tundra area which was a big no no. My plan was to stay in town anyway because of the FJ Summit since that's why I was there. Would love to go down there again.

Yulli - The Forest Service has free motor vehicle use maps, also available on line, which give details for what they refer to as "disbursed" camping. They designate sections along forest service roads where you are free to pull a motor vehicle (and trailer) off the road 150-300 feet or so, depending on the specifics of the particular forest, and set up camp. They are our camping bible when we are pulling the teardrop.

Is this what you were looking for?

I wasn't planning to camp in the forest down there outside of Ouray. I was there for the FJ Summit so I wanted to stay in town to be close to all the festivities.

I just remember the Stay the Trail crew talking about certain areas you can't go into cuz of the Arctic Tundra.

I made it back from the So-Cal shop about 2 weeks ago where I finished my Regional Manufacturer training. We built a well thought out and capable Krawler. The lucky client will be picking it up this weekend.

5 stud Jeep to 6 stud Toyota conversion

I have a SoCal Krawler 459 Teardrop with 5 stud wheels and electric brakes, I want to convert my trailer to the same stud/wheel configuration as my tow vehicle an FJ Cruiser. Has anyone converted their hubs before? I curious how much it may cost (not including new rims, tires etc) and how difficult it is to do, any info/pics appreciated.

I think Yulli is in the process of doing this to his. Maybe he can chime in and help you.

I have an adventure trailer with six stud Toyota hubs and electric brakes. I'm on the East Coast but if there's any significant cost savings of us swapping units we might want to discuss that.

Might be an option, again I'm still not sure what's involved. If it's a case of bolt off bolt on then I could be interested. The guy I bought the trailer from had it built to match his Cherokee

You can just swap out the hub by replacing it with the new ones that are 6 stud. I don't know the exact details of what is all needed as for stud length, etc. But you can usually get that stuff from any trailer company online that sells the parts. And I don't think it's that expensive or hard to swap out. You can also just do a wheel adapter too if you didn't do the hubs. But you have to make sure your backspacing and all that is correct. Somewhere in this thread someone links the site they used.

I have yet to change mine out from my Jeep wheels to my Toyota wheels. Funds and other things have gotten in the way to allow me to do anything lately.
