Hi again,

I am also looking for a supplier and installer of battery and solar for this box i am building. Any suggestions for the Brisbane/South East QLD area? I visited a franchise shop today and they were very unhelpful.

Thanks

Ben.

Hey Ben
If your looking for a set up to keep your deep cycle or house battery charged may I suggest a folding panel of reasonable size to suit your requirements
was thinking about a static set up on mine until i realised id always have to park in the sun for it to work, say bye bye to cool shady sites, hello warm bedroom after a 35 deg day
instead i run a 120w folding panel hooked up to a 120A/hr AGM battery via a 50 amp anderson plug ( ive got a connection at both ends of the truck
that way i can park in the shade put the panel out in the sun and make enough lecky jibbers to supply the truck, and keep my waeco going all day all night (cold beer)
you can also rotate the panel to follow the sun if you feel so enclined to get maximum results, somthing you cant do if the panels bolted to the top of your truck
and its cheaper than a static setup

Hi Ben

Not sure about Brisbane but still in the SouthEast ......Solar Express in Caboolture near the airstrip...ask for Ian...it's been years since I heard from him but I studied Solar / Renewable Energy with Ian and apparantly that's where he ended up .... good guy and knew his stuff.....

Caboolture Caravan Repairs...ask for Adrian, Gavin or their dad, Barry .....these guys wrote the book on solar installs for remote travel as far as I'm concerned ...... Been awhile since I've seen them too but I'm sure they are still in business.....

Otherwise if you want a nice drive, Dynamic Solar at Caloundra and specifically ask for Pete to do the work......ran his own auto harness business for years specializing in high class street machines and race cars but somehow ended up working for those guys....I could not recommend his work highly enough....just don't let the scary bikie tats put you off. He did a mate's Coaster recently....no problem.

Hope this helps....I 'd like to know how you get on for future reference if you don't mind sending me a PM later.

Regards John

Give Michael Berris from Positronic wholesale a call on 0419 796 845

Got him to a energy audit at our factory with the view to install a solar system, very professional.
I got talking to him about a setup for my camper & he told me about some systems that they had installed with great success, particully with the new Lithium Iron batteries, very light.
The reno i'm doing to the camper will have one of his system in it.

Thanks stu I will keep that in mind. It makes sense to keep them portable.

Thanks john for returning my call the other day. I greased those parabolics and the squeak has gone. Saw one of your dual cab canters on the road today towing a big van, whole family in the truck looking happy.

I will contact the solar guys as soon as I have this box on the truck. Great help.

Ben.
