I will be picking up this trailer next month while in FL on vacation. Built by a fellow expo member...not sure what I am going to do with it but it is nice to have options.

Why the ARB was the QT2 not getting the job done.

Fair question...as you may know QT2 is a brake assisted traction control system. It does not have a limited slip or electronic lockers like QD2. QD2 has front and rear electronic lockers.
For 75% of what I do the QT2 system works fine. It is that other 25% that I needed a locker...rock climbing at Uwharrie, several red mud situations where I had to go full throttle with tires spinning to get through.

There is a significant lag time in the brake assist system which is detrimental when you need traction right now. Also the QT2 system has a tendency to create a rubber band effect on the chain in the transfer case. The chain goes slack and then tightens..which may cause breakage. If you are quick on the brakes, left foot brake or even use the emergency brake you may get QT2 to work, but that is a a lot going on when you are trying not to put a wheel wrong.

So for me the addition of a rear locker will pretty much complete my Jeep and provide me that little bit of assurance. I will probably keep the Jeep in 4Hi and use the locker for the majority of terrain. For the rest I will use 4LO and the locker.

And lastly I would love to have a Rubicon, but I do not want monthly payments. It is cheaper in the long run to add a rear locker to my CRD than invest in a new or new to me Rubicon.

Excellent thread, thanks for all the info. I have a 2005 Liberty CRD, slightly modified, but I am considering upgrading to the CRD WK. All this info got me thinking...

OK...I have decided to go forward with the steel wheels....just changing up the look.

Ordered:

-(4) 10mm hubcentric spacers....this was the smallest width I could find that were hubcentric...this will put the wheel and 255/75/17 ST Maxx pretty much flush with the fender...

- (20) 12-20 extended wheel studs...I will replace the OEM wheel studs with these.

- I am using the spare steel wheel so in all I will be ordering 6 steel wheels...5 for the Jeep and 2 for the trailer. Found a great resource on Ebay that is selling them refinished for $75 a wheel.

- (7) 255/75/17 ST Maxx....5 for the Jeep and 2 for the Trailer.

Not sure what I will be doing with the WK specific AEV wheels...maybe keep them for the future when I change my mind...

I think I need a bigger truck!
Looks great.
I like the tires tucked in. I am thinking I need to ditch the spacers, rears for sure, fronts I may need to do some tweaking. I have 265/70/17 on stock Moab's. Might just actually find some wheels with the correct offset instead. lol

Nice look!

Nice stuff. Like to see the uninstalled parts as well. Tie rod ends do not really "pop" in a full truck photo. :)

Currently mounting 3" OME lift, spacers, tires etc on my 2007 CRD< will expect to need heavier ball joints tie rod ends very soon.

:)
