SpaceX has announced that the July 11 Falcon 9 failure will lead to the loss of all 20 Starlink satellites.

SpaceX engineers worked to get the 20 Starlink satellites — 13 of which were capable of beaming service directly to cell phones — to raise their orbits using their onboard ion thrusters. But the hill was too steep to climb, according to the company.

Wish it was a little cheaper, though... just don't think I care enough about having internet in the boonies...

Price wise, it's getting there. Certainly want to see the $599 hardware cost come down.

Sill this presents a good value I think for remote camping. Occasional map update, searches, text messaging, etc. when in remote areas.

The RV campground squad that needs endless video streaming or the Insta influencer always uploading have their option.

Paired with say InReach this gives a great option I think. Don't need another account now, it's stand alone, works in motion if needed, and and can be paused.

I wish the 50GB mini plan could be used with a standard antenna, but let's see what second gen mini dish brings.

See if someone comes up with a hack to replace the slower router.

The 50GB for $50/mo plan looks pretty good to me. If the dish lasts for 4 years that works out to ~$65/mo total. Price is similar to what phone data plans cost, and Starlink would be far more useful for me.

But... if these hardware units are fragile, unreliable, or easily hacked if stolen... I'd be more reluctant to spend the money.

Not a complaint, I just think someone will try and mod this antenna, because...

For me it's more that the mini costs $100 more than the full size.

See how things pan out in a couple of months, but I'm close to getting one.

Will definitely look at the Mini when they decide to make it available in Canada. With the steep discount currently offered on the standard antenna kit here in AB, I hope it means they are clearing inventory to make room for new product!

Looks like the latest Starlink app update added a power usage graph. That could be helpful to people trying to figure out what size power source they need based on their usage. This is showing my actuated dish, not my mini.
