Started my trialer build today.

Little more progress

Got some more parts in this last week and made some nice progress. Picked up the steel for the rear bumper and my air bags arrived.

Got the frame fully welded and ready to start laying out the axle and suspension. In order to get the suspension lined up nice and square I measure out and cut some DOM tube. Then set up my spindles in it and welded it up.

Hopefully I will get some more time over the weekend to get the trailing arms cut/notched and welded up. After I get the whole assembly finished and attached to the frame I will go back and cut the middle section out of the axle tube and cap the ends.

Worked on them a bit yesterday. Didn't get any pictures though. I should have them all finished this weekend so I will get some pics then. I need to work out the brackets for them to mount at the frame end as well as the air bag mounts. I should probably re-size these pictures... They are a little big LOL.

Had a great Christmas though! Now have a nice miter saw, jig saw, router with fixed and plunger base AND a Kreg Jig!

Got back at it and made some progress this weekend. Trailing arm brackets burned in. Trailing arms mocked up and cut. Located the axle and have everything tacked in place.

What size DOM did you use on your axle?

The stub on the spindles was 1.5 inches in diameter. I used 2 inch .250 wall DOM. If i was going to do a full solid axle I would've done something different. Since I am only really using about 12 inches of the tube for each side and will have it supported extremely well I didn't see a reason to go bigger.

Some more progress

Things have been pretty busy lately and since I cannot work on this in my own garage it has been a little slow going. But! I have managed to get a few good days in and have some updates.

I used a long threaded rod to help align the brackets for the trailing arms.

Set it up at what ride height would be to check measurements and location front to rear.


Rear stabilizer legs attached and front dolly mount welded in place.

Fenders

Some simple gusseting in a few places.

Flipped over just to see how it looks.

Now i have my steel for the base of the cab part. I need to finish weld a couple spots of the frame, get the wheels/tires on and then get started on that.

Great progress! How tall can those rear stabilizer legs go?

I think they max out at about 30" they offer them in a couple sizes and I got the biggest they had.

Little more work this weekend. Base of the cab all tacked up. Now to order more steel and gas for the welder. Wheel spacers inbound so I can get this actually rolling as well.
