My Wife is 15 weeks pregnant with our first (both in our early 30's), and I have a lot to live up to when compared to my dad. Little nervous to say the least.

Me and my wife just found out last weekend that we are pregnant with our first as well and my dad is going to be a lot of inspiration for me too.

congrats, both of you!

no need to be nervous...
i have a 11-month old. it was so abstract for the longest time, even after she was born. but you'll grow into it pretty fast. just the exploring has to be a little milder for a while ;-) i tried it last weekend. she didn't mind being in the back seat with the weird angles and the rocking :))))))
of course i didn't go 'overboard'.

Stump,

Is that toolbox hard mounted in your XJ? If so, would you mind posting how you did it? I want to put a smaller toolbox in my rig in just about the same spot. :sombrero:

Hey Alex, yes its hard mounted through the wood platform and the metal floor. I did it many moons ago, and dont remember many details, but it was fairly easy. Take the drawers out of the box, and drilled 4 holes in the corners. Drilled the same pattern in the jeep, and bolted it down with (4) 6mm bolts.

Ok. Thank you. I just finished putting some D-rings in my XJ tonight. :snorkel: I just need to buy some more hardware to mount the toolbox. Until then, its just hidden under the passenger seat. :sombrero:

Stump, How's it going? Great job on your project by the way. I knew you could weld (because the spring hangers you welded on my YJ in a frozen garage in Germany 2 years ago are still solid), but d**n, you got some skills bro! I need to take a quick trip down in your direction and get some learning from you.

Glad to here the spring hangers are still on there, I have a couple new welders since the old flux core set-up, that helps a lot.

See ya,

Congrats both of you.

My wife and I have two boys eight and nearly six. although i'm only 32 years old now. time flies, sometimes i miss having a baby around, and then my sister-in-law shows up with hers. and i realize how easy the 8 and 5 year old are.

Me and my wife just found out last weekend that we are pregnant with our first as well and my dad is going to be a lot of inspiration for me too.

Stump,

Another question. I may have missed it, but how did you cut the sides of the wooden deck in the back of your rig? I tried making templates, but that didnt work out so well for me.

Alex.

Hey Alex, I mentioned if before somewhere, but I just basically measured some stuff, wheel wells, etc, and transposed those measurements onto the wood. It wasnt that hard if I recall, just took a little trimming a few times to get it right. My flooring is in two sections, with the joint going front to back, in the center. There is a tongue and groove joint for the two panels, so they fit together pretty well/strong. Having the joint in the center, front to back, allowed me to install them easily and still have them contour to the body shape very well.

not a very good explanation, but thats how 95% of the stuff on my jeep is done. I just kinda measure, look at it, and make it happen... it works MOST of the time. :D

Alright. I think I'll try that. :) Thats kinda how mine has gone together as well. :D I was never one of the people that understood "Measure twice, cut once." :sombrero:

Got a chance to build my rear swingout finally. Sio glad to get the spare on the back of this thing. Also whipped up a locking fuel can holder, hi-lift mount, and tag/camera mount. Turned out pretty good I think. I made the hinge on my lathe, just a double shear set-up, 1-1/8" pin, delrin bushing with a .25 thick DOM sleeve w/zerk fitting. Added a gas strut to help comtrol so much weight swinging out/in too fast. Work great!

Got my new 2 post lift, installing it next weekend.
