Awesome rig.I've been slowly building this Outback over the last four years. These photos were taken at the Northwest Overland Rally in Plain, Washington this last weekend. I took off on a solo trail run up some of the Forest Service Roads. Beautiful country there.

I've run various oversized M+S tires and taken it a variety of places I was promised only 4x4 trucks could go. Made a curtain kit and camped in the back several times, and generally used it as the most fantastic do-everything daily driver you can imagine. We only moved away from the platform when we had our baby and the amount of "necessary" gear went way up (and the tolerance for rough-camping when way down.)

It's been a good platform for us. We sleep 1-up, 2-down inside the van, and have all the comforts. Early in the process, the vehicle was also very useful as a "plain minivan" which saw a lot of action hauling strollers, etc. Now it's strictly our "adventure vehicle".
I kept the "Outback WRX" until just a couple of years ago. Replaced with a german wagon in the quest for more creature comforts, but damn if I don't miss driving my Subie every day...
If I'm mounting a roof top tent to my Foz, do I need anything besides the crossbars? I see some people have baskets under them...
