Super cheapo van build, it's my fourth E350...

In my experience remans are generally not all that good of an option.

Seems that once you tear into a 7.3, especially the bottom end, the "magic smoke" is somehow let out.

In my experience finding a good running donor is a better bet.

That said, I still have trouble believing such a low mileage rig is suffering from the current diagnosis.

Do you have the work orders, notes, or anything else beyond what you've said already about the motor diagnosis?

Something happened tonight...

My mechanic said 7.5 out of 10 difficulty. But once the bolted on accessories were removed the motor slides in/out without too much hassel...

The new turbo wheel was just because, but if you look closely at the original wheel it was very well used and need to be replaced.

GLad to see progress on this one!

Just hope you didnt have to sell a kidney to fund the motor replacement.

7.3's are fantastic motors, but are not exactly cheap

Just three kidneys...:Wow1:

She fired up on the first shot!
But the thermostat gasket decided to leak, so the new one wasn't right and now I'm waiting patiently for the silicone to dry overnight before I refill and start again.

I've got a few pictures from this event, I'll try to make a photo album one day. Nothing to exciting lol

From what I've read, OEM thermostats have a better seal design. The aftermarket one I put in seems to be sealing fine, but they are a common source of trouble.

Hope it goes well with the reseal.

If it decides to leak then I'll get the new version of it... til then, pinching pennies!

Speaking of which. At what point are you going to have to change the title of the thread? Those last couple of pics looked pretty "not super cheapo". :)

Congrats buddy. Everyone else: Be patient, Im sure we'll have a burnout video shortly. Gotta break in the new motor.
