Howdy!
What sort of setup is required for that run?
I did it 5 years ago when the taco was still stock and I recieved rocker panel, bed, and bumper damage. To be stress free I would suggest at least a 3" lift , 33" tires, rock sliders. The trail is class 3 to 4. It would be great if you can make it!

Wanna trade? :D

FZJ is still gas. Just the updated engine from the FJ 80's in earlier years. HDJ is da diesel!

Well, the sliders I have are on my living room floor so I'll have to sit this one out.
Once I buy my house and I can get an OME and 32-33" rubber under the truck I'll be on "real" trails.

Yeah it was, but the only artisle I've seen is in the proving grounds of last months CRAWL mag. and the focus is on the bed conversion as it should be. Alot of people think the SAS in just for rock crawling but it's not, my steering is just as tight as it was when stock , the ride to me is just as smooth if not a little bit softer, but the main reason is simplicity and strength on the trail.

How much lift are you getting. Aside from the money, that is my biggest SAS reservation. More lift than I want.

I did the original conversion for $2800 and thats gears and everything else. Now it might be even cheaper because when I did it there wasn't any kits or parts made specific for the conversion. The lift can be much lower, I'm running 4" springs on the front and 5" on the rear with 6" shackles all around so you have alot of options plus unfortunately I still have the 2" body lift from when it was lifted IFS. You could use your 2.5 alcans in the rear with a 6" shackle and find another 2.5 spring for the front and run a 4 to 5" shackle up front should level it out and allow up to 35" tires thats just off the top my head with out measureing .

That is much better than what I priced out. Maybe I need to do some better research.
What did you come up with price wise? I forgot that total did not include the axle that I found with all it's guts $250. So it's closer to $3000+.

My current shackles are 6.25 eye to eye. So I would really just level out. I wouldn't gain to much travel up front though, just strength right? When I priced it was a lot more because I priced with a more expensive housing and with coil springs up front. I didn't want to loose drivability. I just think I need to do more research. Leafs up front would be simpler and cheaper. I still need to regear so that is a few more dollars.
