Tacoma Fuel Storage

How are you guys carrying extra fuel. I have the stock bumpers and have would prefer to keep fuel out of the topper as it is my sleeping area. I guess there is the roof but want to see if anybody has any creative ideas. I like the Rotopax stuff.

This is my DD and prefer to keep my truck simple so something removable would be best.

I am working on a basket system to mount in the spare tire location. The hardware is already there, just takes a bit of creative fab work for the basket and you have a gas carrier / water carrier / whatevertheheckelse carrier.

Somebody on here made one on a 60 series with a swing down hinge.

I'm using the metal NATO cans against the cab within the shell. I've had no leakage at all - even with the truck sitting closed up in the sun on a hot day. I've ocassionally slept within the shell after carrying the cans and never smelled fuel at all. I remove the cans (& other gear) when sleeping just to make space.

Would that work for you, carrying the cans within the shell, but removing them for sleeping? I think keeping a good air space within the NATO cans (I usually only put 5 gallons in each can) helps keep them from leaking.
