Taking diesel converted Rover out of the country

I agree with Mongo on the speculation thing. I'm looking for actual experiences here. I understand that people haven't had problems driving across the border and returning, but I'd still like to hear from any one who has actually shipped their diesel conversion overseas and brought it back in after their trip. Any problems?

On a positive note, if you logged 4,000 miles all in Colorado on your offroad expedition with your daughter and nephew, imagine how many miles you would log going to Mexico. 400,000 maybe even a million...

Are you kidding me??????

Mongo is right. You are "that guy!"

I'd sell your Rover right now and buy a Yugo

Just an honest question . . . Got anything useful to add to it? :ylsmoke:

Is this your RRC?

Dude, you drive this across the border, no agent in his right mind will even notice it has a 300 Tdi under the hood..........

Now this, this is a famous quote.

Aliastel, do the diesel swap, when you are finished with that, I will personally email you the numbers of 3 guys that specialize in diesel swaps and that have either themselves or had customers take a truck outside of the country. You can call and speak to them specifically.

Until you do the swap you have bigger fish to fry than to fill in paperwork and get your rig inspected.

Games aside . . . How about PM'ing me their names and numbers now, so I can talk to them before I drop $$$$? That's why I posted this in the first place, so I can get opinions and experiences BEFORE I do the swap . . . LOL :ylsmoke:

I'm one of "those" people. I have experience importing "returning"vehicles from Europe via ship. They inspect the truck for contraband and clear it for "re-entry". I love when these threads start and people with zero experience quote the letter of the law.
Frank/Mongo nailed it pages ago.

I take it you don't have any personal experience on the issue at hand?

My wealth of (or lack of) personal experience does not matter. It seems to me that whatever myself or anyone else posts, you just disregard it immediately and re-state your same argument.

AxeAngel is right, when you get serious about doing a diesel swap, then I would guess you will have people willing to help you out with answers. Until then, you are that kid in junior high school that sits in the front row and goes, "but what if......?"

Nothing wrong with that . . . I hope my own daughter does that when she gets to JHS . . . and continues to do it when she grows up . . . That's what makes the world go round, my friend . . .
