I've seen on these forums that the "tall & narrow" tire is a popular choice for expedition vehicles. I noticed the other day that my grandfather has some that fit the description:
Goodyear 34"x4" on a 26" rim!!!

This is a 1908(?) Jackson:

His other vehicles have some rather tall & narrow tires as well. 1929(?) Ford Model-A and a 1911(?) EMF:

The EMF & Jackson have to be manually cranked in the front to start up the engine, and both are right-hand drive. Kind of a step up from a horse-drawn buggy. Definitely fun to ride around town & get some stares from other motorists!! Probably won't see any of these out in the backcountry, but maybe a few of these would have made some good turn-of-the-century expedition vehicles
