Got some daytime pics, still have the Spacers in and I want to bring them in a little bit so I'm trying to source some longer studs then I'll do a 1/4" spacer and I think it will look a little more reasonable. Love the tires though!
That's the one, currently in Edmonton for a few months as I have a sick little one in the hospital, my brother is a Toyota tech so get some work done while I'm up here. After seeing these white wheels with the retro look and being slightly nostalgicI'm beginning to think... Decals?
I have a soft spot for the '84-'88 trucks (especially the SR-5's) so I say go for it. The decals just scream "Toyota" and look neat when done tastefully.
So with these wheels my whole goal was to get rid of the wheel spacers cuz I'm sick of having to undo 24 lug nuts to do rear brake work then take stuff apart and retorque spacers, pita. So these rims have better than stock backspacing but are really thick so just kissed the brake caliper on the way by. And as you can see Toyota has really short wheel studs in the front. So went on the hunt for longer whee studs, not an easy task! Finally found some at mopac that are listed for an is300 that are 2 3/4 long and hang a crazy high rating from arp... But $45 for a box of 5. Decided to bite the bullet and do the fronts then put a 1/4" plate spacer. The rear is stock studs still but will swap them out when I'm doing other work then run 1/4 spacer the rear and 1/2-3/4 spacer in the front. I think there's other guys that would be interested in these longer studs so here's the part. Number too.
Before
Yup I like that!
After, I figure it gets the military open lug look!
Rears are stock studs
Cuz of the skinny rims and tires I was worried with the big spacers in the brake calipers were very venerable now with it spaced in they're more protected and won't fill with mud so bad

After
How they sit now
Awesome tip on the studs. Most of the 1st Gen Tacoma guys use Matrix studs. Not sure of the length but probably similar to those IS300 ones. Thanks for sharing.
This is the final result for spacing, in a ways but still spaced out 3/4 compared to stock even with the skinny tires they fill the wheel wells better than the 285s
So 2000k on these tires, they are significantly quieter than duratracs and throw a lot less rocks on the gravel roads. Had some bad weather and they aren't as sticky as the duratracs but they definitely hold their own. With the narrower tread the steering is lighter and I'm very impressed with the setup. Found a matching spare and because it's a narrower tire it tucks nicely out of the way. How close do you guys let you're spare tires sit by the exhaust before you start worrying cuz it's noticibly closer than the 285?
on my 88 runner. i had the spare about an inch away and it melted the rubber. not sure how much hotter is the tundra exhaust to my runner. If anything I would put a head shield on the pipe
