Tembo Tusk Scottle Recipes, Tips and Tricks

Thanks Kramme.

I used a package of premixed Zatarain's Red Bean & Rice. It was pretty salty and not what I normally use. It cooks all at once. Added some Vegetable Oil with some water, heated it all up until it was ready. Then pushed it out to the side and heated up the meats. I think if I were cooking the meat from the start I would have cooked it first.

This was quick and easy but need to find a good rice and bean recipe that is not prepackaged.

thanks KD7WCD I will look for that - I like simple!

Dfinn,

We also camp in the desert a lot and the wind can be nasty. I have a wind shield that wraps around the burner and nests under the Skottle. We also have a lid that works wonders on cold windy days. The lid actually works pretty good to steam veggies and popping corn etc. See the pictures below.

Question for the Snow Peak guys.

First thank you for those of you who bought the Skottle IGT Insert!

I have gotten a bit of feedback on the insert and from what I understand, the insert is about 1/8" or a bit more too long. Can someone measure an other Snow Peak IGT inserts such as the BBQ and let me know the exact length? Please measure in both inch and metric if possible.

For those who did buy the insert, once I get the details ironed out, I will be happy to exchange the one you bought for the new updated Skottle IGT Insert.

Thanks!

lost on the mainland
you are looking at exactly 25 cm for each unit (as snow peak seems to call it) so a two unit as you have should be 50cm no wider
google says 50 cm is 19.685 inches ?
(I am guilty of using the 10 inches as its easy to say for non metric folks per space)

if you built it 20 inches and say I built my own 20 inch unit custom very good chance it would not fit !!!!
I ran into that when building my stuff to test for my BBQ and stuff :) so found 25cm every space every thing worked and also forgot which way it was ? but the 2 space unit a single item could drop in say with almost no wiggle room (meaning going all the way to the black ends) use your insert as example but if you tried to drop two of those into a 4 space they would not fit !!! I did my own cutting boards for 2 space units that were a tight fit and could not fit two of them in my 4 space :)
the reason is those sliver bars are the width you want so the 2 space is 50 the 4 space is 100
so a 4 space total is 109cm and a 2 space is 59cm :)
when I built some custom length to fit tight two space units I could not fit two of them in the 4 space :)

the black ends give you about 9 mm wiggle room maybe a touch more on a IGT maybe ten ? would have to measure again been a while since I been doing custom fittings :)

hope that helps you out
and buy the way love that scottle :)

Thanks Honu!

That helps a lot. I will be adjusting my current stock to to match. I'll post up when they are complete and I will ship out adjusted inserts to all who bought one.

Thanks for the feed back!

@TemboTusk I'm looking on the website and trying to add the Scottle to the cart, but there's no link for it :/ Are you sold out right now? Also, have you considered selling on Amazon? Thanks!

Capnjackcanon,

In the next few days I will be upgrading my website. Something I have been working on for a while. It turns out some of the newest operating systems have trouble seeing all the parts of my website. The new upgrade should solve that issue.

Send me an email and we can complete a manual exchange or wait a few days and try again.

Aloha Jerry,
Just wanted to say that we've been using our skottle and IGT system on our back lanai and it's been great! Really glad that you made the insert for everyone to enjoy.
Mahala nui loa!
