Tried to do a search on this but haven't found anything.
The temp gauge (needle gauge) on my Gen2 never goes past the halfway point. Never shows it overheats weather I'm cruising down the freeway or if I'm parked with the engine running in 100+ weather.... When the truck is cold it reads cold...as it warms up the needles goes up normally until the halfway mark.
The digital temp gauge within the compass however is a different story.
As soon as I'm standing still with the truck running the temp goes up really fast.
Example. If its 60 outside and I'm cruising down the freeway the temp will read 60 as long as I'm moving.
But if I pull over for more then a minute the temp starts to climb. After 10 minutes of being parked with the truck running it will read 100-120 depending on how hot it is outside....
The other day it was 42 outside coming back from the local renfest and we pulled over to eat some lunch in the truck. After 15 minutes the gauge said it was 125 degrees. After 5 minutes of driving it went back down to 42.
In the summer it would read 140s and even the AC would shut off at this point until i drove around the temp dropped ( the AC shutting off is the only sign that it's actually getting hot )
Yet the needle temp gauge next to the fuel gauge never goes past the halfway mark , engine never smokes , never any bubbling noises.... never a sign of actual overheating.
Is the temp sensor for the compass temp gauge located in a place where the heat of the engine will effect it ?
Thanks in advance.
