Tent AC units?

I have a Windcahser SC7 Portable Spot Air Conditioner/Dehumidifier that I bought to cool the cab of my Unimog. Reasonable size and weight and only draws about 4 amps when running. You'd leave the unit outside and point the flexy cool air outlet into the tent.

Might work for you.

This one looks like a possible option. Low enough draw to be run off a small generator with easy to attach duct to route the air where you want it.:sombrero: Sound powerful enough to easily cool a tent/camper area.

I think we all have the evaporative coolers figured out. I think we're all trying to figure out a dehumidifying air conditioner that would work.

My father-in-law uses a small window unit from Home Depot. He says it works perfect and most of his camping is in the SE US so he is fighting serious humidity.

some years ago my husband was all excited about a landrover with a custom box on the back that was built from the ground up. I remember that this truck had an AC unit built on top of the cab. The was something that Lance wanted to do so we could sleep in our truck.
I can't find any info on it but he's really the google searcher of our family.

Has any one used this yet.
I can make this reall easy out of some big computer fans I have and some thin wood to sit in a cooler I already have. Great idea. I have seen the other one at Dicks for like 78 bucks but I can bang this out for pretty much free with stuff I have around the house.
Just wanted to get an idea if some one has used it before,

They are junk. If you are serious you should look either at the Cabala's unit mentioned further up in this post or go with the 12v Swampy www.swampy.net The Swampy units really do put out cool air in high volume. Bigger is better with the swampy products. I have the small 12v Mighty Kool and it works great for cooling down either the front seat or back seat but not both. I can also run it directly off my 15w solar panel. Or off a small 12v battery for tent use, then i recharge the battery with the solar panel during the day

Have you used the KoolerAir unit??
I plan to make one off of their idea but with a bigger is better attitude.
I saw the other one and dont see how that one is any better than this. Except that it cost more. I have a larger 12volt fan that does high volume and figure it would kick the KoolerAir in the Butt.
Just was trying to see if any one had used it and what their thoughts were on it.

I have not used it but like you I tried to make one with minimal success. I did read several customer reviews from I believe Amazon. Many expressed dissatisfatcion.

If you are going to make a vehicle cooler i would look into using that fan you have to make a swamp cooler. There are several options for for buying the cooling media. All you need is a simple 12v pump to pump the ice water up and over the media. In fact there is a person on Expo who made one for their trailer. I really think you will be less than happy with the performance of the Kool Air. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I will have to see if I can find some info on the swamp one you are talking about. I have several size fans available to me and also some 12v pumps. So I am sure I can come up with some thing. Thats half the fun for me is doing it my self rather than buying it.
