If you could bring the 6.2 and the newer transmissions back to the GMT800 platform, we'd all be in heaven.

I'd start saving a few hundred a month for a new vehicle. I wanted to keep a few vehicles over the years but I'm not a super mechanic and with three kids and a commute I can't be down. I plan on buying a GMT400 at some point but will have a newer DD to balance ride availability.

You certainly can. Hell, I'm running a 5.3 in my 91K5. So swapping a 6.2 and 8 speed is just a matter of taking out the old and installing the new. I'm oversimplifying as there are the obvious electrical issues to deal with but it has been done before. It just depends on if you are doing the work yourself or farming it out.

Anything is possible when it comes to the swapability of the LS engines to earlier trucks that's for sure.
