really looking forward to this as my M116a1 build has been put on hold indefinitely while I finish the M37 that is going to pull it. What you're doing is absolutely brilliant though. Subscribed!

Thanks Tbone. If you need this axle for any extra M37 parts or hubs let me know. I know they're somewhat hard to find

Starting to lay the trim around the entire box to help protect the corners and just get an overall hulkier look if that is a word.

Gonna pick up rims and tires tomorrow then off to order the axle. I've waited for that moment for a while so it'll be exciting to drop the old axle and get it riding how I want it to ride.

If anyone wants and old m-101A1 axle with parking brake and M37 hubs and wheels let me know otherwise they will go to the scrap yard. Don't feel like paying over at steelsoldier for their classifieds

Can't beat free 99!!!! We'll if your heading to Vegas I can include beer and lunch! Hopefully someone needs a axle more than me. That parking brake would be awesome on the trailer though

Sadly when I got the trailer the brake handles weren't there so new ones would have to be attached...brake arms are still on the backing plate on the wheels but cables chopped. And actually might be heading there soon!

Today was a big day. Picked up rims and tires. Got tongue box and ordered axles. Finally spent some real money although not much. I'd been going back and forth about rims and tires. Since the company that makes my 20" rims on the tow vehicle is out of business I had to hit craigslist. As much as I want aggressive "look" on the trailer tires I knew it was just for poser value since the trailer doesn't provide traction for the tow vehicle and didn't want to spend much money plus to go with with 6 bolt so I can just carry one spare for trailer and tow vehicle...choices choices choices. so last week I found an ad for 20" rims with BFG mud terrains with 50% tread and knew my choice was made. The guy wanted 200.00 for everything so now I have four rims and tires so spares will be abundant and at least 2-3 years of usage for the amount we go camping. Bigger thing was I wanted to black them out to match the tow vehicle but now that I see them next to the trailer I don't know. I was going to rhino line the trailer itself but I'm really digging the bare aluminum now and don't really care that it's scratched up a little. Heck it's an expedition trailer. Anyway what do you guys think? Keep the rim and trailer unpainted or match the tow vehicle?

Also used harbor freights 20% coupon and got the tongue box. Once the mounting frame is welded and trailer box is set to correct height it should cover the window perfectly

This is really getting exciting now. Axle is dexter 3500lb with 10" electric and should be here in about a week and a half.

For now the previous owner did a crazy concoction of welding a 2" coupler so I'll use it until I figure out what system I'll use in the end as I'm just super eager to get on the road

Anyway sadly tomorrow I have to start cranking on a cabinet job so the trailer won't get 100% of my time but I will still be able to work on it.

Excellent progress.

I'm leaning towards blacking them out......

Keep the updates coming!

Damnit Titan...I was hoping no one would suggest it... it was my original thought to black it out. with such thin walls and aluminum my guess is black would be marginally warmer than aluminum if we're in the direct sun which we usually aren't when we're camping. I have 80' on my solar run so the panel can stay in the sun but the trailer doesn't need to. I may just run it aluminum for a little bit and do some black accents along the way and then take it all black. Looking at BOSS teardrop is what turned me onto it but since my truck was blacked out i've always dug it so we'll see.

Blacked out rims, trailer Polished to a mirror finish!
Think classic air stream!

Then a tire track graphic across the side and over the top.

Leave it to Mark to take it over the top. When the zombie apocalypse does happen I can kill them with their own reflection

Spent most of the day cutting up plywood for my cabinet gig and on schedule I'm all done so I had time to get some insulation into the roof. Gonna foam inside the open channels and tape up seams then figure out interior roof material.

Might be cool to do some wood trim and some LED strips inside the aluminum channels so I'll hold off on the foam for a little bit and see if I can do a sample with the lights so check out the effect.

My architecture designs are contemporary/mid century modern so I may just dress up the interior a little bit although I already got grey weather resistant carpet for the inner box. I'm just running through ideas as I type so who knows what tomorrow may bring. Oh right still have a cabinet job to do
