I feel Tesla will eventually fail or be bought out by another manufacturer. I could care less about Tesla but the things being done at Space X are very interesting. Rockets that return themselves to the landing pad, etc.... Genius!
Once their credit runs out, they are doomed. They'll probably be bought out by another car maker.

Tesla delivered 97000 cars last quarter and is gonna deliver more this quarter.

For people that dont need a truck Their cars are the best deal going right now even without the tax credit.

They’re gonna be around a while.

GM also just announced a 2.3 billion battery plant to be built in Ohio. It must be smoke and mirrors though, cause Musk is wrong! His reality distortion field extends all the way to GM!

Though he may end up smashed by the defamation lawsuit.

Er, I am not saying that EVs are wrong or doesn't take investments. That is quite the leap. If some ICE car company is incompetent, somewhat fraudulent, and building sub-par products, do you go "Yeah, BMW [say] just invested money in a new engine so that too must be smoke and mirrors"?
Yeah, thought you wouldn't.

Bob Lutz did such a great job with the Volt, I hope they brought him back for the battery plant.

How much does Elon stand to lose to the non-pedo?

Indeterminate. Awards in jury trials like this are all over the map. Typically the award is supposed to adjusted for the perceived damage. The wealthier the victim the greater the damage. Though they can really stick it to people sometimes. I highly doubt it would be a dent in musks reserves.

Hmmm, I thought they had to put a number on their grief to start the process, but I guess not. Musky claimed around $20B in worth, so that can't hurt the Caver. The whole thing is really stupid, but the Musker made it far worse by hiring an investigator to dig into the Caver's history looking for his NAMBLA membership card. Maybe this case will make him back down the tweets a click.

Yeah, when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. Though narcissism makes it hard to tell the sky from the hole.

The plaintiff was supposedly seeking $75k, but I have a feeling that may go up a bit. At least he's not claiming 100s of millions like certain members of congress. Ha!

So, the thing is here.....when the jury believes a defendant has acted intentionally and maliciously, the jury can also award “punitive” damages if the plaintiff has asked for them in his original or amended complaint. The amount of those punitive damages is generally based on the defendant's wealth...not so much based on the economic value of the injury suffered by the plaintiff, since these are designed to “punish” the defendant for his bad actions. Thus, Musk’s wealth would be a very real and important issue and these punitive damages could be huge.

But then again, many of the really big punitive damage awards are significantly reduced on appeal as being unreasonable. In any even, Musk is still going to be wealthy enough to weather this storm.

Unlike some billionaires who whine about being restricted to *only* 6 figures a month during bankruptcy, our lord musk didn't start life that way, so I think he probably vaguely remembers how to do laundry, shop for groceries, and clean. As such I don't think he qualifies for the afluenza billionaire disability compensation. Though maybe he already eats cup-ramen with a disposable fork while watching Maury on over-the-air TV?

I know a few billionaires.
Little cash has always been a problem, they have almost everything leveraged to the hilt.
