The caps with the neck protection are not specifically designed for shooting - just for shade at an all day outdoor event. By definition shade is scarce on rifle ranges.

Hats specifically for competition shooting have side flaps on the bill to cut out light coming in from the side and reflecting off your glasses and sights and to cut down on visual distractions. Some examples in this link:
