J,

So it looks like I will be the one checking out your Cruiser at SnT next year!!! Looks great!!!

Now you just need a Kimberley Kamper behind it. I hear all the cool kids from Nevada are doing it!!!!!!!! :punk03: :victory:

That's one way to put it. 14 months of mixed emotions, haha. It's funny (Now) when I go back and read it. I can tell when I was frustrated.

I just added the newest pieces to my build. I was lucky enough to score two of George's L.E.D. dome lights from his very last batch.

I feel very fortunate to not have missed the boat on these outstanding lights. My only regret is that I didn't have the foresight to order a third light, so that I would be able to match all three domes when I install a third dome light in the rear most portion of the cargo area.

The light output is outstanding compared to stock and I don't have to worry about the risk of battery drain due to the doors being left open for an extended period.

Here's the link to George's site;

And here's a poor quality picture just before installation;

They are awesome aren't they? I finally got off of my lazy butt and ordered two as well.

Now what about your avatar to Rolly Free?

My father-in-law sold his 1949 HRD Black Shadow just a couple of years ago. It won numerous awards and shows even though he continued to ride it. I have met Rolly a couple of times and he is an amazingly nice guy. I have quite a few HRD t-shirts and have attended numerous national rally's. Really neat bikes. :clapsmile

That is all.

Leave it to you to know Rolly Free, and instantly recognize my Avatar. I've been on a salt kick lately. You can't think of the salt without thinking of Rolly.

My friend (Just so happens it's the same friend that I learned to drive with. It was a diesel Scout in his dads crane yard just about every sunday. We were 10.) just completed his aluminum bodied Cobra build with an aluminum fuel injected 427 in it. He told his engine builder "Once you get to stupid fast, your almost there." It Dyno'd at 685 h.p. (Flywheel) and the car weighs about 2800 lbs. Anyways, he's talking about a road trip to Bonneville, hence my tribute to R.F.

We took it out for a run up Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). It was unearthly. I'll never forget the look of the Ferrari driver's face as we pulled up next to him, pushed in the clutch and dumped it. The guy just about jumped out of his skin.

That's funny...I have a couple buddies here in Reno that recently finished a Cobra with 427 and glass body. Richard Weber of Dan Gurney and Caroll Shelby fame oversaw the build. But I believe the recently sold it.

Thanks guys. Good times to be had for sure.

Here's the link to his kit; They (Kirkham) did not build his engine. He outsourced the entire build to a guy down in SoCal. And it looks like the weight is even less than I thought.

Not your typical ExPo rig, but fun nonetheless.

If you haven't made it out to Speedweek on the salt, I highly recommend it. It's been over ten years since I have been, but I still remember the experience. Truely awesome to be there watching the action. My father-in-law has a friend that set numerous records on a supercharged Triumph triple, was out there when the Burt Munro, "worlds fastest indian" was running, said he was a neat person (he even pinched my Mother-in-law's butt):rockon:

Sounds like the cobra was a fun ride. I had heard about the company that was building the kits in Poland. That is too cool.

Yeah, it was BAD. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten a free trip to County if he had been stopped. His has the opposite finish. Raw aluminum with polished racing stripes. He pulled over in Corona Del Mar to let me drive and I told him he was crazy and to get back in the drivers seat. We weren't back in the Scout in the Crane yard. The car was so new it was not even registered yet.

I just kept laughing as we blasted down the road. He said it was fun to take somebody for a ride that actually got excited and enjoyed the ride. He had only had his wife as a passenger at that point and I guess she wasn't too impressed with it.

I was raised around racing boats. I have a neat picture somewhere of my father racing at Long Beach Marine stadium. The only part of the boat that's in the water was the prop. That's where I got the 426 Hemi in my garage from. The exhaust from Andy's Cobra reminded me of the boats of my youth, but it sounded a lot nicer. If that makes any sense.

And to keep it in theme with ExPo, his father just purchased a brand new Unimog for Baja. He has yet to pick it up, but wants to build it into an ExPo Camper. I told him about the site.

I think I should have gone into the Crane business:ylsmoke:

Time to update the thread with the newest items.

I added a set of Adventure Trailer's new composite drawers. I think they will compliment the Tailgate storage from Wagon Gear nicely. I did a write up on the drawers which can be found here;

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23965

Here's a teaser pic if you don't feel like clicking on the link;

I really like these drawers and I know they are going to reduce the "Clutter" in the cruiser along with eliminate potential passenger compartment debris in the unfortunate event of a traffic collision.

Next on the list is trying to secure a Milford half barrier to complete the rear storage area.
